"Within a few minutes, I was online visiting Websites I had never heard of before: Free Republic, Little Green Footballs, Power Line," writes Mapes...
Maybe now she will get some smarts.

Mary Mapes was stymied in her flagrantly dishonest and unprofessional campaign to use fake documents to bring down a president, and now she wants to whine about it? She is a willing, eager tool of the terrorists, and yet now she will be the toast of the leftie journalism schools and MSM cocktail parties. This is too revolting for words....

Accountability sucks, eh Mary?

"They were hard-core, politically angry, hyperconservative sites loaded with vitriol about Dan Rather and CBS."
I wonder if it will ever occur to Ms. Mapes that Dan Blather and See BS have EARNED every insult and every bit of scorn, vitriol, and derision coming their way.
Do lamestream media figures ever figure out that they actually deserve what they get in response to their lies and propaganda?

Not bad, but it was not only Buckhead and "proportional font"...
The key that tipped off others immediately - at first sight - was recognition that those FRAUDulent documents were not even close to having a format that was in use by the ANG at the time. I think that it was TankerKC who made the first observation of that, but I could be incorrect. That in itself would call into question whether the documents were authentic.
After that, Buckhead and others said, "hmmm... yeah... and..."

Liberaleze for "caught redhanded". I prefer the way the greatest philosopher of the 20th century stated it.

Hey Mary, if it is a huge disaster, call FEMA for some truck loads of ice to put on it.

Mary obviously hasn't read the mission statement or rules of conduct that were established by the founder of FreeRepublic and are monitored constantly by members who hold Jim's trust. Oh but that the media had to maintain the rules of decorum we do and bear the scrutiny of not only administrative monitors, but thousands of brilliant Freepers who won't allow inaccuracies to prevail uncontested. Ms. Mapes could learn a great deal from the internal system of checks and balances that are present and functioning on FreeRepublic, but pathetically absent in the main stream media.
I guess Ms. Mapes is awaiting an apology from FreeRepublic for pursuing and exposing the truth?

Hey, she's late to the party...this 'blog' has been going on for some time. Wonder where she gets her news...

You got busted out by the truth Ms Mapes. If the truth hurts so much, maybe you and your comrades might want to think about changing what your values are. Learn that the ends you seek, really don't justify your dirty underhanded means.
Crooks always cry foul after they're caught red handed. The jails are full of them. You and your comrades should just be happy that you are not in one of them.

"Within a few minutes, I was online visiting Websites I had never heard of before: Free Republic, Little Green Footballs, Power Line...It dawned on me that I was present at the birth of a political jihad." What should have dawned on her was that she was seriously out of touch with reality.

Actually, she was dumb as a box of rocks about the tools of her trade. Things like printing presses, typewriters, computer printers (both laserjet and impact), desktop publishing, MS Word, and so on. That is why she was blindsided.
She probably dictates to a secretary and edits using a red pen as well.
