FORECASTER KNABB
It's been over 20 years since I've been to Daytona...can you still drive on the beach?
We might get to the Greek alphabet yet...
She's probably already blinked him to Mars after getting mad at him for his being forced by Colonel Bellows to take a cute secretary to the NASA dinner instead of her.
It's yucky (a scientific term) here in Central FL this am...nasty- not alarming.
Well, whatever it is, the un-named thing coming off the Yucatan is bigger and more intense on the most recent satellite loop than Tammy.
Tropical Storm Tammy has formed just off the east coast of Florida and tropical storm warnings have been issued for portions of the Southeast U. S. coast. Specifically, warnings are up from Cocoa Beach, Fla., northward to South Santee River, S. C. Tammy, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (offshore), is moving toward the NNW at 16 mph and may cross the coast of northeast Florida this afternoon. Heavy squalls with gusty winds and high surf will occur througout the warned area north of Tammy for the next 12 to 18 hours.
Meanwhile, heavy showers will push inland over northern Florida, southeast Georgia, eastern South Caroliina and southeast North Carolina. Three to 5 inches of rain are likely in these areas with isolated totals of 8 to 10 inches. Isolated tornadoes are possible, too.
Tammy is expected to weaken to a depression later today or tonight over extreme southern Georgia.
=================================
There will still be nasty conditions in the next 24 hours, but the forecast is for this system to weaken and more ashore...
There's been talk of politicians wanting to do away with it. Between them and these tropical systems that sit off the coast for days on end, it doesn't look good for beach driving. Better hurry down!
That's the one I'm watching
Tammy is too close to shore, with moderate shear, and moving inland too rapidly to develop into much more than we see now.
If they eye has too much mascara, you know it's Tammy.
Checking in from the Ocala area where it's wet. Sure wish we had finished reshingling roof over the weekend as I now have multiple leaks in the house near the bathroom vents and under the skylights. Ugh!!!
Weather report does indicate some rain from Tammy for us here in the Old Domminion, but I doubt we get 2-3 days worth.
My sister has a cat named Stan. He's the biggest thing I've ever seen, but he is timid and shy. Just a big scardy cat.
Stan pulled a lot of Pacific tropical moisture over Central America. That is probably an outflow from those effects.
I KNOW THAT AND IN THE PRE-INTERNET DAYS IT SEEMED NORMAL.
THE GOVERNMENT IS ALWAYS YELLING, "GIVE US MORE OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY SO WE CAN WASTE IT AND YELL AT YOU TO GIVE US MORE"
Tropical storms are nothing to take lightly, but perhaps Tammy's biggest impact will be to rain out the baseball playoff game tomorrow night in Atlanta.
An answer to prayer in Georgia - please rain on us!
