Ann Coulter: Miers a 'Complete Mediocrity'
Newsmax ^ | Monday, Oct. 3, 2005

Posted on 10/03/2005 3:07:23 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Count Ann Coulter among the conservatives who are unhappy with President Bush’s nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

Asked by NewsMax.com if she considers Miers to be what she had called John Roberts after his nomination - a "tabula rasa” - Coulter, who’s now out with the paperback edition of her best-seller "How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must),” said:

"No. She’s something new: a complete mediocrity.”

Ouch.

This nominee is shaping up to be someone nobody knows, nobody likes and yet totally unstoppable. This will prove to be either the shrewdest or the lamest political decision of this presidency. I'm betting (hoping?) on the former.

I recognized AC's talent as a pundit the first time I saw
her on MSNBC during the Clinton scandal. I thought I was correct then and I still think I'm correct and I am a woman.

Nope, not gonna happen. I will continue to respect and admire Ann as long as she speaks for true die hard conservative--which I'm PROUD to be. She's no bimbo to me, but she sure is the babe!

"I believe it was phrased that way because Miers is utterly unqualified for the job, so to say otherwise would have been a lie."

I keep hearing that but apparently she is a very good lawyer who has argued constitutional cases for President Bush. And apparently there have been a number of non-judge justices.

She's as qualified as Earl Warren was when Eisenhauer appointed him

And, unfortunately, we all know how Earl Warren turned out.

Has anyone noticed that Ann has showing almost the identical symptoms as Pat Buchanan did before he went totally 'loco' (and also irrelevant)...

Ok Ann. It is about time to get to a few truths.

One...you have let your popularity go to your head.

Two...you are too damn skinny and you arent nearly as pretty as some people think you are.

We've been had, it's over, there is no future as we hoped for it to be

So why don't you leave?

The place would be a whole lot better without the negativity.

Well said. Personally I like bimbos with snappy patter, so that is a plus in my book.

I didn't agree with her regarding Roberts and I still don't. But the Miers nomination could prove to be a complete FUBAR. Does anyone here believe that Miers will handle as adroitly the constitutional questions as Roberts. Given that he set one helluva high bar, President Bush would have been well-advised to have picked someone who would not completely pale in comparision.

If his first pick had been a non-sitting judge, then their lack of experience and knowledge of caselaw would have been, perhaps, "refreshing." I fear this will prove to be a complete embarrasment.

I don't care how good a person she is (I imagine she is a wonderful person), but she can't possibly have the qualifications to be sitting on the Supreme Court. 99% of all licenses attorneys, in my opinion, don't have them.

Maybe now all the guys around here (and they are ALL guys) who think AC is such a great pundit will finally realize she's just a bimbo with some snappy patter.

Right on! Take away the Bimbo and your left with... "A NON_ENTITY!"

Not even close.

I will try to be fair and keep an open mind. Maybe she is qualified. God help us.

She's Michael Brown in a dress and sensible shoes.

That's ridiculous. Michael Brown had almost zero experience in disaster management at FEMA. Miers has been practicing law for more than 30 years. She rose to become managing partner at a good-sized law firm in Texas, something she would never have done if she were not an exceptionally lawyer. Comparing her to Brown is a travesty.

She does not have judicial experience. But then again, neither did Rehnquist when he was nominated. And I'll bet she has more trial experience than anyone currently on the bench.
