She did not contribute any money to the reelection of President Bush senior, who would face off against the Democrat Clinton in the 1992 presidential election. On February 16, 1988, Miers contributed $1,000 to the Democratic presidential primary campaign of then-Sen. Al Gore. At the time Vice President George H.W. Bush was in a Republican presidential primary fight with then-Sen. Dole and Kemp. She did not contribute to any of these Republicans...

1) Already posted.

2) Drudge goofed. Miers gave money to Gore in 1988, reportedly due to his pro-life stance (at the time.) According to another FR post, Miers also argued against pro-abortion positions taken in the ABA.

Also from Drudge:

On a conference call held by the Federalist Society this morning, former RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie admitted sheepishly that Miers was a Democrat througout the 1980s; asked specifically about the Gore contribution, Gillespie said that she was a 'conservative' democrat who later became a republican... So, it means Bush has possibly nominated a pro-lifer, meaning social conservatives should be happy: Roe v. Wade has just potentially lost a vote.

Um, I don't know who wrote this article, but he or she is an idiot. George H.W. Bush's primary challenge in 1992 came from Pat Buchanan, not Bob Dole or Jack Kemp. So right there this writer has no credibility.

Bill Clinton was governor of Arkansas in 1991, it is right next to Texas, and I'll bet Miers' firm did plenty of business in Arkansas. $250 is a token contribution. Who actually thought in 1991 that Bill Clinton would be elected President?

Drudge must not be reading FR this morning, or maybe he's lost in the maze of teeth-gnashing...

To compare Ronald Reagan with his women would be like comparing his Einstein against her Dumbo..

This really could be important if it shows she is wishy washy on what she believes.

In 20 years, Bush will be gone and she may still be on the court.
What if she is under the spell of David H. Souter by that time?
