Harriet Miers
Expected...She's only cannon fodder to set up the real choice...I take it Y'all don't play much poker....
If Bush knows her well then I have nothing to be worried about.
So you would disqualify Reagan also?
Wasn't Al Gore running around claiming to be pro life in 1988?
And we think the MSM has this right because ...?
I take it you have extensive knowledge of this woman's stance on the issues. You know, something deeper than rumor. Care to share?
You may well be correct. But at this point it is too early to tell.
SEE post 44
And you are a liar. I pulled the info straight from the Federal Election Commission files.
Where is it listed that she gave to Al Gore on the official FEC files??
Beat it troll.
Does he seriously expect the nomination of someone with no judicial experience to fly? This just hands the Democrats a free club to wield.
thats my train of thought too
She's said to be NOT pro-life so I'm against her!
"For the purposes of this act, the term 'person' shall include unborn children from the moment of conception."
After debate, Mr. Siljander demanded a recorded vote. The amendment was defeated 219 to 186. Among the recorded votes for the amendment was that of Al Gore. This amendment was in direct opposition to Roe v Wade, not just one against federal funding for abortions. In addition, he denied even casting that vote on Meet the Press on Feb. 21, 1988, and a Gore advisor stated to U.S. News and World Report on March 7, 1998, that: "Since there's a record of that vote, we only have one choice. In effect, what we have to do is deny, deny, deny."
Was she a "Texas DINO", back when all politicians in the Lone Star State were?
said by whom?
In Congress ;-)
Strategery....
Having checked the site out myself i would say, yes she supported by giving monies for Gore and the DNC back in 88, however, she since then supported Republicans. Does this represent honest change of heart? or just political expediency?
I need to see her take on social conservative issues before im willing to get on board with her nomination. If she has no background governing pro-life issues i don't want to support her.
I am not disqualifying anyone from anything. I am correcting that poster who asserted that Miers has only donated to Republicans.
And that's good? Sounds scary to me.
