Harriet Miers
I don't know her, but personally I resent those remarks a little. Not trying to be confrontational, but I would be considered a single career woman, and my family is the most important thing in the world to me. A career is just how my life worked out to be. But I'm certainly doing my best to help raise my 2 nieces and 2 nephews right (please pardon the unintentional pun).
If it spends like a duck and nominates like a duck....
On which side?
I don't have my hopes up, or down. Once it's official, I'll learn more about her (or whoever), and THEN decide whether I like the pick or not.
I'm done with Bush and Condi, too.
It is time to speak out strongly against those policies that we disagree with.
I believe that DeLay's misfortune raises an opportunity for Republican Senatorial leadership that will challenge Bush's errors.
Why is everyone immediately coming down on her? to be honest i dont know where she stands on anything so until i do i will hold off on judgement
yeesh everyone automatically thinks she is another Souter
I'm not happy with this. Just watch the Dems, if they don't raise a fuss then Bush has made a mistake, as I suspect on my own he already has. Maybe it's a head fake, throw her to the wolves and then nominate JRB! Dreaming
Perhaps I'm being cynical or Machiavellian, but I think this is the one that will step down after she gets beat up pretty bad or they find something to carp about and then the next one will be more conservative and get through. Just a guess...
You know, I was just thinking to myself the other day - in light of all that is going on today, would I be supporting Bush if he were a Democrat? And the answer was...
Another question for conservatives to ponder is:
What REALLY is the difference between Harriet Miers and Sandra Day O'Connor?
Has Bush simply caved in to the Demo pressure and given them the .. cough.. gag.. "consensus" pick they wanted?
How many conservatives heard this pick this morning and shouted "GLORY GLORY HALLELUJAH!!!" and how many heard the name this morning and had their hearts sink, moaning "Why?? Dear God, WHY??"
Besides, she and her husband made the donations.
It's on AP now.."Bush picks Meiers"..

I'm officially DONE voting. What's the point?!!
What a yellow bellied, GUTLESS, SPINELESS, sell-out-your-base move of pure IDIOCY.
I voted for Dubya for ONE reason.."Justices in the mold of Scalia and Thomas". And he goes with someone who could quite reasonably be considered to the LEFT of Sandy O'Connor!!!
I am absolutely LIVID and DONE with the entire political process. Me and my family are staying home from all future elections.
DONE. FINISHED. **NO** **MORE**.
Anyone on the Dems' non-filibuster list is someone they believe to be pro-abort.
She is pro-abort.
No courage to pick another justice in the "Scalia/Thomsas mold".
Bush lied.
Bush is a failure.
ok, here is me drinking the koolaid...
maybe pres. bush knows his next SC nominee is going to go down in flames so he is offering her up as a sacrifice.
i know, i'm hallucinating. i agree with the poster who listed off all the items freepers would be inflamed about if the current pres was a dem. this should be the last straw of things he gets a free pass on just because he claims to be rep. i hope this nominee goes down in flames and not just from the dems.
If he were to nominate someone whose most obvious qualifications are her personal friendship to him, I think it would just damage his credibility. I suspect the Dems would confirm her, but if not, the road wouldn't be any easier for the next nominee.
