So because GWBs nominees had a rough time, he has to lower his standards (and break promises) to get her approved? Sounds like the cowards way out.

If a nominee isn't approved, its the DEMS that look like idiots, not Republicans. Now, the tables have turned. And GWB looks dazed and confused.

There were so many other better candidates, even ones who wouldn't have been such a hard fight. This was just a bad choice, period.

We don't know yet much about Miers and I said on this thread, time will tell.

Senator Chucky Schumer is holding his presser right on schedule. Miers is going to get a grilling by the dems. I doubt the GOP will grill her.

I'm troubled by a lot of the stuff on this thread, too; for instance, that she's pro-choice, when I just read this:

"During Miers' tenure as head of the Texas Bar Association she was a leader in the campaign to reverse the American Bar Association's pro-choice position on the right to choose. Had this campaign been successful, which it was not, the ABA would have been returned to its former position of neutrality."
