SHE is not J R BROWN, or any sold judge who has asserted the Originalist view of the Constitution. Try spinning that..THis appointment stinks because there will be no way for us to judge a record that does not exist. Those that say wait for more info are kidding us and themselves when we get rulings supporting the Living Constitution it will be TOO LATE ..I do not want to be guessing on this SCOTUS position We want a solid CONSERVATIVE JUDGE.

I would have to see the transcript, but he the gist of what he said was that Judge O'Connor would be spending more time on the court than originally planned, i.e., until Miers is confirmed.

i think the key here is confirmability.

Seems the GOP worries a helluva lot more about "comfirmability" than the Democrats do. In fact, given that the last person a Rat Prez nominated for SCOTUS was radical socialst ACLU lawyer Ruth Bader Ginsburg it appears the Democrats don't worry about it at all. And given that the GOP let a nutball like Ginsburg waltz right through the confirmation process virtually unopposed it appears the Democrats are completely justified in not giving a damn about the confirmability of their nominees, knowing full well that the spineless GOP won't put up much of a fight.

I'm happy with Roberts (but he's a straight swap for Renquist (zero-sum)), but he should have appointed Luttig to overturn Roe v Wade.

She is more conservative than O'Conner. O'Conner is for late term abortion.

She donated to Don Stenberg who is a leader against abortion.


She wanted to get rid of the ABA's pro abortion policy.

Miers also worked in a tort reform law firm.

I think she will turn out more conservative than Roberts. It is more important that she is conservative than an intellectual.

She did not get the ABA to drop its pro-choice position. She merely advocated that the members have the option of voting on it. Big difference.

The Rats mantra over the past weeks have been cronyism given the Brown debacle and the Julie Myers nomination.

I think you've probably identified a likely talking point -- i.e., Bush doesn't take the importance of the position into account when he nominates someone to it. Comparisons to Brown might be rampant.
