How about posting some FACTS to prove that assertion. We can all wait.
I was responding to jstolzens comments. Please go back and read my response again.

Also, I am pretty sure that the liberal Sarah T. Hughes (also possibly unmarried?) was the first appointed and the first elected woman state judge (before she went on the federal bench) in Texas history.

Shame on you OWF! You're letting facts get in the way of a good whining session!

"Wait for facts? And ruin the fun everyone's having with hysteria and speculation?"
One FACT we are reacting to:
SHE is not J R BROWN, or any sold judge who has asserted the Originalist view of the Constitution. Try spinning that..THis appointment stinks because there will be no way for us to judge a record that does not exist. Those that say wait for more info are kidding us and themselves when we get rulings supporting the Living Constitution it will be TOO LATE ..I do not want to be guessing on this SCOTUS position We want a solid CONSERVATIVE JUDGE.

I would have to see the transcript, but he the gist of what he said was that Judge O'Connor would be spending more time on the court than originally planned, i.e., until Miers is confirmed.

C'mon. Bush is supposed to please 100% of us 100% of the time. Is that too much to ask?
To: itsinthebag
She sees him as a Souter. No paper trail=no conservative.
I suspect Miers could be the same.
To: beebuster2000
i think the key here is confirmability. Seems the GOP worries a helluva lot more about "comfirmability" than the Democrats do. In fact, given that the last person a Rat Prez nominated for SCOTUS was radical socialst ACLU lawyer Ruth Bader Ginsburg it appears the Democrats don't worry about it at all. And given that the GOP let a nutball like Ginsburg waltz right through the confirmation process virtually unopposed it appears the Democrats are completely justified in not giving a damn about the confirmability of their nominees, knowing full well that the spineless GOP won't put up much of a fight.

I'm happy with Roberts (but he's a straight swap for Renquist (zero-sum)), but he should have appointed Luttig to overturn Roe v Wade.
If he appointed a Luttig type, don't you think Laura would have had him sleeping on the couch?

Harriet Miers helped draft the late term abortion law.
She is more conservative than O'Conner. O'Conner is for late term abortion.
She donated to Don Stenberg who is a leader against abortion.
She wanted to get rid of the ABA's pro abortion policy.
Miers also worked in a tort reform law firm.
I think she will turn out more conservative than Roberts. It is more important that she is conservative than an intellectual.

Schumer's on C-Span, talking out both sides of his mouth again.

RECALL:
"A number of Democrats" said Roberts was a good choice, too.
I don't think that gives us any clue at all.

A 60 year old spinster, no kids, no grandkids.
I want a woman whose brought life into this world and kept marital vows to be on that court. I don't want some old lady with dubious credentials-- I don't want a blank slate who hasn't been pro-life or pro-family in their own life.
Lest we forget, Souter is a fey UNMARRIED MAN with a MOMMY COMPLEX who lives in a log cabin in New Hampshire. We know Souter doesn't screw women, but he sure has screwed us.
I'm just not digging this nomination....
To: RightthinkinAmerican
Schumer is talking about her now on TV and bashing the "RIGHT WING" of Bush's party.
I can't imagine there are many left in that wing today.

Ah..........but I don't 'blindly support President Bush.' I have disagreed with several things he has (and has not) done.
I never have blindly supported anyone, nor will I ever.
Your ignorance of the facts doesn't further your point, ray. You don't know what you're talking about, and your name-calling puts an exclamation point on your ignorance.

She did not get the ABA to drop its pro-choice position. She merely advocated that the members have the option of voting on it. Big difference.
To: writmeister
The Rats mantra over the past weeks have been cronyism given the Brown debacle and the Julie Myers nomination.I think you've probably identified a likely talking point -- i.e., Bush doesn't take the importance of the position into account when he nominates someone to it. Comparisons to Brown might be rampant.
