Student who died in blast identified
The Oklahoman ^ | Sunday, October 2, 2005 | Jesse Olivarez

A University of Oklahoma student died in an explosion Saturday night near a stadium packed with 84,000 people. Although the investigation is not complete, the medical examiner believes Joel Henry Hinrichs III, 21, of Colorado Springs, Colo., perished in the blast, said Salvador Hernandez, special agent in charge of the FBI in Oklahoma .

Hinrichs died about 8 p.m. when an explosive detonated near the Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

According to the university’s Web site, Hinrichs was a junior in the college of engineering.

There were no reports of any other injuries and university officials have said the spectators at the game were in no danger at any time.

Initially, police believed there were two explosives -- the one that detonated and another that didn't -- but a later search found no other device.

University President David Boren said a police bomb squad did detonate an item found at the blast site to ensure that it was not an explosive.

These have been confirmed as controlled detonations made by the Norman police at their designated NPD site.

At almost 8 pm on a Sunday night?

What genius ordered that? Unless they had a really good reason to believe they had another bomb on their hands. Something like that could cause a heck of panic.

So far everything points to a lone suicidal sick kid who wanted to make a big final exit

Or a prankster that had a premature imolation. College students have been known to do very unusual and sometimes illegal things. Could the kid have been planning to blow up one of the KU buses during the game for kicks? I would like to hear what the police found in his apartment before accepting some islamofacist attack scenario.

Living out there cured my acrophobia. Every time I went into the mountains I would go a little further ... and a little further. Going above timberline is the big step.

Dave, I guess you can say you ar sorry for atacking me after you read the following>

Law enforcement sources close to the Northeast Intelligence Network have confirmed that search and seizure warrants were served today upon the residence of the “suicide bomber, 21-year-old Joel Henry Hinrichs III of Colorado Springs, CO, who was a resident of the Park View Apartments on campus. Speaking strictly “off the record,” the officials stated that they recovered “a significant amount” of Islamic “Jihad” type literature, some possibly written in Arabic, along with the suspect’s computer. Some of the documentation included material on how to construct bomb-making vests.

Further reports by the same officials indicated that the bomb was detonated prematurely when the suspect was either arming a bomb vest or backpack, which contained TATP, a homemade explosive. TATP (triacetone triperoxide) is a very potent but relatively easily manufactured explosive compound that was used in the July London bombings. It is important to note that TATP has been cited in numerous Jihad bomb-making manuals.

The same officials, requiring anonymity as the investigation is ongoing, continued to confirm that “other un-detonated explosive devices were found in the area cordoned off by police and federal officials.” Those devices WERE NOT DETONATED, but carefully confiscated for further forensic testing. Initially, information provided to the Northeast Intelligence Network suggested that that the so-called “suicide-bomber” was attempting to attach bombs to the buses parked in the area when one of the bombs detonated prematurely. The investigation has expanded into the possibility that others might have been involved.

I presume you mean the media? Perhaps they did, perhaps they didn't.

Doesn't change what I said about their constant mischief making those who recognize it and want the truth much less willing to believe them and question their story, motives etc.

You have a point -- self-bombing in the U.S. is extremely rare. However, there was a notorious case in Bath, Michigan in 1927. A school board member who was angry over taxes and his failing farm blew up his home, the school, and then himself. Killed 45 people.

If you read the feedback from Norman-based FReepersincluding PhiKapMom, you'll find that Boren's "ex-lanations" are increasingly being distrusted. Of course, if you had done so in the first place, you wouldn't be supporting him.

Northeast Intelligence Network

ROTFWL!! Now that is humor. Next are you going to post Debka as a valued source or maybe the website run by the John Birchers. Tell me about the evils of floridation. I'll believe this is terrorism when the real cops say so, not some idiot group that says a nuke was set off in the ocean off Boston. blah. blah. Some idiots will believe anything. And by the way I dont see any humor in suggesting that a kid committing suicide fit the pattern of a terrorist. Ha Ha. You are a sick puppy. I dont understand you people that just crave the idea of being under attack by Islamofascists. Do you crave being a victim that badly that you root for the Al Qaeda people to attack so you can be right, once.

If you want three instances of a college student blowing himself up to commit suicide, obviously one of those (or an earlier incidence) has to be the first one. So at some point, there is a first incidence of any action. Because it is first it cannot be true? Only after two others have committed suicide the same way can we believe it?

What about the guy who drove his car on the train tracks last year? Weird way to commit suicide.

A college student in Japan jumped into a volcano to commit suicide in 1933, sparking a fad. Virginia Woolf drowned herself (very hard to do and very unpleasant). A 24 yo woman in Alaska cut off her own arm at the shoulder with a small knife to commit suicide. Who can say what the mentally tortured will do. We cannot, if we are not sharing their mind-set.

This does not mean that there is not more to this story. But by only focusing on this one way to "prove" it, we can miss the complete picture.

Oklahoma student had Jihad Material

My point is that anyone, even a jihadist, that would blow themselves up is suffering from a some type of severe mental disorders. And the same thing applies to ANYONE that just murders innocent people. So that is why this student fits the profile!

Here is some of the text from this article in the link.

An Oklahoma University student who killed himself by detonating a bomb strapped to his body outside a packed stadium over the weekend was a "suicide bomber" in possession of "Islamic jihad" materials, according to a new report.

Joel Henry Hinrichs III, 21, an engineering major at the school blew himself up outside OU's football stadium during Saturday night's game against Kansas State. Doug Hagmann, a seasoned investigator, told WND he was informed by multiple reliable law-enforcement sources familiar with the investigation into the incident that authorities recovered a "significant amount" of "jihad" materials, as well as Hinrichs' computer.

Hagmann also said those same sources indicated police and federal agents "had pulled additional explosives from [Hinrichs'] house," including triacetone triperoxide, or TATP, "homemade explosive [that is] very potent but relatively easily manufactured."

Don't worry, I really don't expect you to say you ar sorry for your mindless attack on me, nor your shallow thought patterens and low IQ. It is after all part of YOUR profile.

Has NEIN ever used a real, verifiable source for anything? NEIN seems to base its stories upon information obtained from super-secret sources deep within anals of the FBICIANSADHSLEO, who can't be disclosed because of ongoing investigations, national security, fear of reprisal, blah, blah, blah... In my opinion, only a small percentage of information that comes from NEIN is ever verified and that stuff is obvious, like tomorrow is will be light, followed by darkness. Seems to me that NEIN has a bunch of shills running around FR promoting the website whenever something happens than can arguably be associated with Islamic terrorism. Caveat Empteor.

Dave -- I remember when NEIN alleged that a nuke exploded off the coast of Boston. If I recall correctly, NEIN even had seismographic evidence of the explosion, which the bloggers quickly shot down as the seismographic pattern produced by an earthquake, not a nuke. The only thing nuclear was NEIN's response to the bloggers when it threatened to sue its critics and even threatened FR with a lawsuit for copyright infringement even though the NEIN shills (allegedly) had linked and/or posted the article from NEIN in the first place. The Mods ended up wiping out the entire thread because of the large number of posts blasting NEIN and in particular, the fake seismograph.
