The PRIMARY purpose of Homeland Security is to keep the United States secure, hence its name. One way that is accomplished is to keep illegal aliens out of our country. Hitlery needs to be told that we are spending enough money cleaning up the results of Klintoon imcompetence, so she should just shut up or better yet leave.

BTW, while aid to stay in this country for illegals is ridiculous, I could see a one time small payment to illegals to aid them in settling back in Mexico if they give themselves up. We'd have to limit it just to Katrina victims or we'd have new illegals coming here just for the resettlement money when they are deported.

By their failure to enforce the intent of our immigration laws, they are in violation of their oath and should be charged with impeachment of office.
Why amnesty is now necessary for illegal aliens is beyond my tolerance and understanding. Humans in need should be provided with basic emergency helps regardless of who they are in the country but if and when someone is identified as illegal alien, they should answer for their illegal behavior. Just because a storm/emergency occured is no reason to provide "amnesty" and the two issues are not even related here.
Because, amnesty is not necessary to provide anyone with a bed, a shower, clean and dry clothes, basic accommodations and food/medical care on an emergency basis for some interim time but a person's legal/illegal status should be identified early on to prevent American dollars aiding illegal aliens, AND, if an illegal alien is here, they should be deported.
And all of them who took off for Mexico prior to the storms should not be allowed to just drive back whenever.
This situation is beyond absurd. Illegal aliens need to be shown the door and that does not mean they should not be shown compassion or should be shown intolerance for emergency, humane needs, but the illegal alien presence has to be resolved.
Amnesty "just because" ideas indicate pitiful pandering, in my opinion, and Hillary Clinton is doing just that: foolishly pandering. Chertoff, well, he is, too.
