"Clinton said that the DHS should "issue a formal statement reassuring immigrant victims of Hurricane Rita and Katrina that they can seek help from relief agencies without fear of deportation or being turned over to immigration authorities."

I have a better idea, lets give 'em all a book of coupons for Mcdonalds, and boot their A$$'s out of the country!
THATS a plan. :o)

Issue the formal statement and then deport them anyway?

They should seek help but the idea that they're supposed to be suddenly deemed not responsible for their illegal presence just because a storm (storms, rather) occured is nonsensical and irritatingly so. Again, it's the political mind here pandering to illegality and trying to rationalize continuing it, "just because."

There is NO REASON that the U.S. cannot establish shelters for illegal aliens to receive basic helps, just as they have for citizens. But the plan needs to include appropriate answering for their actions for illegal aliens. If they need help, give them the basics but I'd like to know what the morality and logic is here for "amnesty" to be included in the care packages.

The care packages are aid enough by the country for people responsible for illegalities that they SHOULD be held accountable for. I realize this upsets Vicente Fox but so what.
