From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

Q. What is tularemia?
A. Tularemia, also known as “rabbit fever,” is a disease caused by the bacterium Francisella tularensis. Tularemia is typically found in animals, especially rodents, rabbits, and hares. Tularemia is usually a rural disease and has been reported in all U.S. states except Hawaii.

Q. How do people become infected with tularemia?
A. Typically, people become infected through the bite of infected insects (most commonly, ticks and deerflies), by handling infected sick or dead animals, by eating or drinking contaminated food or water, or by inhaling airborne bacteria.

Q. Does tularemia occur naturally in the United States?
A. Yes. Tularemia is a widespread disease in animals. About 200 human cases of tularemia are reported each year in the United States. Most cases occur in the south-central and western states. Nearly all cases occur in rural areas, and are caused by the bites of ticks and biting flies or from handling infected rodents, rabbits, or hares. Cases also resulted from inhaling airborne bacteria and from laboratory accidents.

Q. What are the signs and symptoms of tularemia?
A. The signs and symptoms people develop depend on how they are exposed to tularemia. Possible symptoms include skin ulcers, swollen and painful lymph glands, inflamed eyes, sore throat, mouth sores, diarrhea or pneumonia. If the bacteria are inhaled, symptoms can include abrupt onset of fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, joint pain, dry cough, and progressive weakness. People with pneumonia can develop chest pain, difficulty breathing, bloody sputum, and respiratory failure. Tularemia can be fatal if the person is not treated with appropriate antibiotics.

Q. Why are we concerned about tularemia being used as a bioweapon?
A. Francisella tularensis is highly infectious. A small number of bacteria (10-50 organisms) can cause disease. If Francisella tularensis were used as a bioweapon, the bacteria would likely be made airborne so they could be inhaled. People who inhale the bacteria can experience severe respiratory illness, including life-threatening pneumonia and systemic infection, if they are not treated.

Then you too would agree that the release of this would be considered, shall we say, unusual?

NORMAN, Okla. -- One person was killed in an explosion in a traffic circle about 100 yards from a packed football stadium at the University of Oklahoma on Saturday night.

Authorities were calling the death a suicide.

The loud noise of the explosion could be heard inside Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, where 84,000 people were watching the Oklahoma Sooners play Kansas State.

Officers cordoned off an area west of the stadium after the explosion and nobody was allowed out of the stadium immediately after the blast, which occurred shortly before 8 p.m., at about halftime of the game. People were allowed out of the stadium at about 8:30 p.m.

A police bomb squad detonated explosives found at the site of the blast.

The area near the stadium was searched by bomb dogs.

If it hadn't been for alternative media, MSM would have never gone with the John Muhammed name for the DC sniper - at first they tried to pass him off using his pre-Islamic name - but then the truth came out.

Tuleremia is commonly known as rabbit fever.

When i was a kid it was axiomatic that you never shot a rabbit that wasn't running.

Speaking of Bush, just where is he tonight. He should have known about this in time to stop it. So what if Bush has a Supreme Court Justice to appoint, he should be there: RIGHT NOW.

Yep, the old pipe bomb in the commode routine. Not to mention roman candles down the hallway and bottle rocket wars. No one get hurt, just a lot of noise.

At least that was my experience at Texas A&M circa 1980.

Although, this one sounds like a suicide. Even a small pipe bomb makes a lot of noise.

Hi TheRobb7-

The FR moderators have been eliminating posts like yours because they're termed as promoting violence. It will eventually come to drastic steps when the world finally realizes that we're in for the fights of our lives with these Islamic maniacs.

Yes, the MSM did hide the islamic name.

If it weren't for the internet, we wouldn't be aware of ANYTHING that was going on here in our own country.
