The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

Actually that was pretty common until the last few decades. I doubt Ike thought of Tricky Dick as Presidential timber. And before that, well FDR picked this little hat salesman from Missouri for his second VP. VPs were picked to "balance" the ticket, or gain support from some region or the other. I doubt much thought was ever given that the VP might take over via death of the President. Running later on their own was also not as common as it is today.

The bookstore has moved to the stadium -- it is great! It is much, much larger. My son and some of his fraternity brothers chose my screen name.
That has to be the area they are talking about. Usually the team buses are parked closer to the stadium on the northeast to east side of Cross. There are benches, trees, and a lot of gardens between Cross and the building to the south.
No "accident," but I'm wondering if the timing was, meaning it may have detonated prematurely. Thank God, if so!

Thanks for your post, Will. Your analysis holds good in India too. The muslim students there (the ones that are not in Saudi-funded madrassas) are only interested in converting others to Islam. Culture, to a muslim, consists of reading that POS, Koran.
Blast Rocks University of Oklahoma Campus, 1 Killed

One person is dead and five others are injured following an explosion on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.
The blast occurred not far from a football stadium that was packed with fans cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners. Spectators reported hearing the blast during the game but no one was hurt in the stadium.
There are reports that the blast was part of a suicide plot. The victim's name has not been released and the cause of the explosion is unknown.
Nothing to see here. Everyone just move along.
Yes a Persian, at least one who traveled much, would know her middle east types, even if she just got a quick look.
While PhiKapMom has provided us some first hand reports, this Persian lady's report is only second hand, which is probably a heck of a lot better than Boren and the "authorities" are getting.
