Stop what, you ask?"

Thanks granny! I'll try to get a hold of those two movies, and if I can't I'll make sure the oldest reads "Grapes of Wrath". I've never read it myself, so I guess we'll read it together! (o:

Thank you for digging up the scuba diver photo, does make one give thought to the cuba/iran/mexico connections.
But first thing that comes to my mind, are the sunken nuclear bombs, lost in the ocean for many years and I doubt still useable, but still a temptation to those who want to do evil.
Thank you for the report.
Did you stop and think about the connection to the pumpkin bomb in Venezuela in post #4011?
It makes me think that this is going to be a dangerous week, with all the pumpkins that are floating around.
They are getting to us, one by one, "gift Boxes" have bombs, as to lost briefcases and now pumpkins.
It has been many years since I read the Grapes of Wrath, you may want to read it or check it out, before giving it to a kid to read.
It was an ugly time in this country, but a real time too.
No, I missed that one in Venezuela. Thanks for pointing it out!
I will definitely check over the book before giving it to my daughter. Thanks for the reminder though. (o: She's almost 14 and pretty mature (also reads at a college level), but there's still stuff she may not be ready to read about. (o:

New wave of arrests in Lebanon after UN report

Saad Hariri: People who planned, carried out and covered up this
crime face punishment.
BEIRUT: As Lebanon and the world prepare themselves for UN Chief
Investigator Detlev Mehlis' briefing to the United Nations Security
Council Tuesday on his controversial report on the assassination of
former Premier Rafik Hariri, a new wave of related arrests has been
carried out. Mehlis was subject to heavy questioning from the
international media at a news conference he held Friday to explain
why his report was released in two different versions, one citing the
names of top Syrian officials, including the brother and brother-in-law
of Syrian President Bashar Assad, and the other with them deleted.
The German prosecutor, who left unsatisfied media hunger for the real
reason behind the deleted parts of his report, issued a statement after
the conference saying: "I established a rule that any person named in
witness testimony should not be named in the report unless that
person has been charged with a crime related to the assassination of
former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri."

Al-Qaeda in Iraq Issues a Video Depicting the
Interrogation and Execution of an Iraqi
SITE Institute ^ | Oct. 24, 2005 | SITE News

Al-Qaeda in Iraq [Tanzeem Qaedat Al-Jihad Fi Bilad Al-Rafidayn]
issued a 6:22 minute video on Saturday, October 22, 2005, depicting
the interrogation and execution of Abbas Dahel Majid al-Obeidi, a man
identified as a member of the Iraqi National Defense, affiliated with
the Shiite Badr Organization. Al-Obeidi is seen sitting on a floor and
holding his identification cards, as two masked men carrying machine
guns are standing behind him. Several questions are posed to
al-Obeidi, including the mission of Badr, aggression against the Sunni
people, alleged American support to this organization, and fatwas
which authorize dishonor upon Sunni women.
Following the questioning, Ababs Dahel Majid al-Obeidi is beheaded.
Thank you for the post on the birdflu, Charlotte.
Jay Sekulow's group and Alliance Defense Fund have a great work to do. These law suits all over the United States are an attempt to cause chaos and discouragement. It is as much a psychological warfare as it is an attack on our legal system. The ACLU is definitely an enemy of our country as well as those organizations that support their agenda.
Hang on Easterners. Its gonna be an interesting day.
From Laura Mansfield:
Iran bringing many divers, sophisticated technology to Gulf of Mexico
by Laura Mansfield
Earlier this year, a top Iranian General made the following boast: Iran is the biggest military power in the region (with) 10 million volunteers for martyrdom operations ... to turn Iran into a terrible nightmare for the United States, General Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, deputy commander of Irans hardline Revolutionary Guards, told the Kayhan newspaper.
This summer, the BBC reported an ad in an Iranian publication has calling for volunteers for "martyrdom operations" against the enemies of Islam. The ad was published by an institute managed by one of Iran's most conservative and radical clerics, Ayatollah Masbah Yazdi, who has declared his support for Iran's new President, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad. It recruits men and women to enlist with the "Martyrdom Lovers' Headquarters".
So I find it more than a little ironic that the same country that is actively recruiting volunteers to conduct suicide missions against United States and US interests, and is opening bragging about it, has now been granted a base of operations in the Gulf of Mexico, within easy striking distance of Americas Gulf Coast.
The Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company is expected to begin shortly a major $90 million dollar project laying pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico. The company says it will be laying 36-inch pipes 60-70 meters under water.
The company expects to be handing the rest of the $400 million dollar project as well.
According to a press release on IRNA, The Gulf of Mexico project will help the Iranian company gain valuable experiences given the large presence of European and American companies in the area.
The press release also states that the project will need many divers and sophisticated technology.
Is anyone in our government paying attention here?
A country which has made one threat after another against the US for over two and a half decades, is now being provided in essence a base of operations in the Gulf of Mexico, within striking distance of much of the US oil supply.
They will have carte blanche to bring in divers, submersibles, and highly sophisticated technical equipment. Since they will be in essence subcontractors for the Mexican oil industry, they will most likely be able to circumvent export controls for many types of hardware and software that would not normally be eligible for export to Iran.
Hello? Is anyone listening?
