I need freepers' help on the following:
Last month I noticed the library displaying a book in the youth section about Social/Political activism. I flipped through it and it was only filled with liberal/left-wing topics (peace marches, animal rights, etc).
Here's the book:
It's Your World--If You Don't Like It, Change It : Activism for Teenagers (Mikki Halpin)
I figured I would give them another month to see if they put up a conservative or reasonable neutral book. This month we have:
Yet another left wing rag. I ran a few keyword and subject searches on the library system and found a total of zero conservative or neutral books.
I cordially questioned the reference desk lady about what I had found she also attempted to find a book with different viewpoints but was unsuccessful. She suggested I look for a conservative book for youth activism and request the library purchase it.
Freepers - do any of you have some suggestions re: conservative (or at a minimum neutral/independent) books geared to youth political activism?
I have to get the new book: "Mommy There's a Liberal Under My Bed" I'm sure it will be a fast but entertaining read. LOL!
you may want to contact the people who run the site www.protestwarrior.com. They could point you in the right direction as far as books/materials about protests from a right/neutral perspective. Off the top of my head, I really can't recall anything written from that perspective about protesting and civil activism, although I'm sure books along that line do exist somewhere. (probably because us conservatives don't have much time for protests, as we're out working real jobs so the protestors don't have to.)
Well, I always recommend my book: "A Patriot's History of the United States." (They won't let me post a link, sorry).
I will second the suggestion in post #4 as well. Very good study with a senisble viewpoint.
Seriously. It's not about activism, but it is fantastic food for thought.
I read that book too, out of curiosity. I REALLY hope they redo the movie and make in synch with the book. The way the movie was written actually MOCKED the responsiblity of attending to the defense of the human race.
Being smug is not the way to live life.
Get David Horowitz's book on growing up liberal, becoming a conservative. He's written a couple along those lines...
You can always count on freepers.
I agree. Presenting the book as it stood made a much better movie than what they ended up with, I thought.
