The only problem with your scenario is that Bush is the dude who is handing everybody lots of money in the aftermath. Are the recipients of our tax dollars going to turn on him anyway?

Gene Taylor... I thought the poor did not have cars. You want them to supply gas, transportation, etc??? Unbelieveable, you want us to put a diaper around them and give them a bottle also?

You ain't kidding! Now he asks why FEMA didn't foresee that those poor people might not have enough money left at the end of the month to fill their gas tanks. (Could have been worse -- when he mentioned the 28th of the month, (I almost thought he'd ask why FEMA didn't think to reschedule the storm!)

I'm not even watching this, just following the thread, and I can feel my BP shooting up. Their CYA tactics may seriously be the worst I have ever seen. Phantom police on the payroll??

I was going to ask WHO reported the policemen went AWOL... because a fair number of FReepers went along with it. Was it all the MSM listening to Nagin/Blanco/Landrieu?

Not the role of the federal govt to supply gas, water, etc. It is the responsibility of the state and local govt.

"this is the attack we should have been making 4 weeks ago."

I respectfully disagree. That was not the time to attach, as credible as it may have been, it would have been drowned out as trying to CYA while people were still in peril. Now that things have calmed down, and the facts have gotten out, and the Rats idiocy is all on record, now is the time to strike.

Brown: If you want to sit there and berate me because FEMA did not supply five gallons of gasoline to people on fixed incomes, then I take issue with that.

Taylor: A 20 dollar tank of gasoline is cheaper than $80 worth of MRE's.

THIS IS AN INSANE ARGUMENT. INSANE.

Brown keeps telling him that if they want FEMA to do stuff, they should change the law and the organization of FEMA to do that, but it would be stupid to do so.

Taylor is acting like FEMA has the ability to not follow the law, and do whatever they feel like doing.

Oh I well remember "William Jefferson, Democrat, Louisiana"...spent a morning listening to Rush with him as the topic...haven't laughed so much in YEARS.

UNreal. Brown is once again having to explain the role of FEDERAL government vs LOCAL government. These libs truly believe the feds are supposed to BE THERE the instant something bad happens.

Gene Taylor is your typical rich dim who lives in the South, has a trophy wife, a big ole plantation and a mistress in every port.
