Brown: If you want to sit there and berate me because FEMA did not supply five gallons of gasoline to people on fixed incomes, then I take issue with that.

Taylor: A 20 dollar tank of gasoline is cheaper than $80 worth of MRE's.

THIS IS AN INSANE ARGUMENT. INSANE.

These reps are absolutely idiotic. Do they not understand that this was a state and local issue.

Ridiculous, for a number of reasons.

1. What good is a $20 tank of gas going to do when your car (if you even have a car) is under 3 feet of flood water?

2. It is not the job of George W. Bush to keep your gas tank off E.

3. If Taylor is paying $80 for a case of MREs, he's getting ripped off. You can get them on the Net for less than $60.

Come on--dontcha know the Federal Government, on top of providing SS checks, welfare checks, disability checks, is also supposed to know when an emergency takes place and give you $5 so you can leave your house--and of course they are also to make sure there is enough gas in every gasoline station along your evac route. And then they're supposed to have MRE's and water waiting for you whenever you need it--and toilets to get "rid" of same.

EGAD--Dims are not only advancing a nanny state--they want a MOMMY state!

I promise you, those people would have taken the five bucks worth of gasoline and STAYED HOME ANYWAY!

A lot of people down here have always decided to ride out hurricanes. Many will continue to do so, though I'm sure many others have learned their lessons.
