Unlikely that Dr David Adamany will be of much help. For one, he generally does not see such matters as being in the purview of a university president.

Also, Adamany is gay himself. While it is possible that Adamany is past the age at which he finds youth beguiling, there were very credible rumours that years ago in his previous post at Wayne State(Detroit) he was apprehended or at the least accosted by police late one night in Grosse Pointe in the company of a 14-year old boy.

Overall though, Adamany is an outstanding college president. His financial management skills are without peer. In my experience he also has an elegant taste in suits.

Back when I was 12, I was coming home from a ball game (Red Wings) by myself, waiting for a bus transfer downtown, just up the street from the Eastman Theater. There was a public phone booth by the bus stop and the phone started ringing. Like an idiot, I answered the phone. The pervert who was calling, described how I looked and what I was wearing and proceeded to tell me what he would do to me if he got ahold of me. I hung up and ran like hell, four blocks to where there were more people waiting for the bus. I was scarred shi!!less. I didn't get physically molested, but the SOB got into my head and there's no way that any sort of pervert/child contact is beneficial. It messes with a kid for years.

That is probably the best description of what happens. It isn't the physical aspects, it's the internal mind games, the loss of trust and safety etc that destroy a child. I mean, the world is suddenly full of monsters and no one is to be trusted.

Something similar happened to me when I was in my early 20's. It was so scary and I had nightmares for years.

I can't imagine how much more devastating being molested as a child would be.

This will sound really stupid and irrational coming from a 44 year old woman, *but*, every time I get involved in discussing this topic, the "forever 10 years old kid" inside me worries that now something terrible will happen to my dogs or my parents.

Why?

Because I spent 5 years having that "threat" instilled in me, should I ever be so stupid as to "tell".

Even in relative anonymity and decades afterward, the threat still has a voodoo-like power.
I can count on 1 or 2 fingers the people I absolutely, positively trust.

If that's not killing a kid, it's the next best thing.

I was a big kid for a 12 year old; however, there's no way a kid can handle contact with a pervert. I told my older brother about it and he had to explain to me alot of what the pervert was telling me... I only knew at the time that the person on the phone meant to harm me. Knowing what I know now, I'm sure the pervert was a chicken hawk. Those dudes don't care who they harm and scar for life, they only care about going after adolecent boys and their own sick gratification, sociopaths all of them.

You and I could go on for days about this I believe.

But yeah, the kid is destroyed forever. Instead of seeing home, Mom, Dad, family as safety and sanctuary....everything becomes a potential source of pain, anxiety or fear.

It is bizarre. And yeah, I can count on 3 fingers the people in my life I trust, or have ever trusted.

Doesn't sound stupid to me, or any other "forever 10 year old" grown person whom has experienced what you have. It's rough some times, but I decided about 13 years ago that I wasn't going to be his victim anymore. That he has no power over me. But it's not always so easy. Sometimes it just haunts me and despite everything I've told myself (I've forgiven my abuser, It's all over, I'm not his victim anymore etc) it still haunts me and I HATE HIM for it. It started for me when I was really little (as far back as I can remember...), and finally ended when I told my mom at 14. Of course no charges were ever brought. But he has little or no relationship with my daughter. And it will stay that way.
