Yeah, SNL is as lazy and predictable as ever. Nobody ever heard of this Kanye West before a few weeks ago, and his ad lib outburst at that awards show (that nobody watched) had the desired effect - - to get West's name in the news. And there, of course, is SNL ready, willing and able to throw him up there like a freak show in the hopes that the masses will tune in to see what the guy looks like.

One of my most memorable moments was when John Belushi was the musical guest, and he sang the song With A Little Help From My Friends and during the climax of the song, he was flopping around on the stage like a fish out of water pouring beer all over himself.

What was even better was about 6 months later they had Joe Cocker on (Who Belushi was imitating in the song/show) and he did the same thing (with Belushi watching from the side of the stage). It was classic!

As stupid as it was, I don't think West's disjointed rant was more offensive than Sinead O'Connor's defining moment of presenting a photo of Pope John Paul II to the SNL cameras and ripping it to shreds.

It doesn't rise to the level of what Sinead O'Connor had done. What Kanye West, and the MSM were and are hoping to achieve are the reversal of the 41 years of progress in racial equality by driving a wedge into the racial divide.

Goebbels, also believed that the more you repeated a lie that more people believed it...

Kind of the theme you get from the MSM and the Left, especially propaganda master Michael Moore.

They should have put a stake through it's heart with the 25th anniversary show. It's been the walking dead for years.

LOL! Yep! They happend to show both of those particular episodes last winter, the John Belushi imitation showed one week, and the Joe Cocker appearance the following week. Heck, in the episode where John Belushi imitated Joe Cocker, there was a skit with Rich Hall where his shoes had holes on the bottom and he cut a couple pieces of this rubber rug that triggered electric doors. Every door he walked by, whether it was a newspaper vending machine opened up as he walked by them. They also lampooned the stupidity that regularly shows on 60 Minutes.

I've heard about that one but never seen it. I'll bet Belushi had chugged a few to get into the mood.

This will also be the first time someone has been rewarded for screwing up an NBC show. Elvis Costello was banned from NBC for years because he changed his music at the last moment on SNL. I can think of others who also had no future on TV for what they did on earlier shows. Many are related to SNL.

He looked pretty stoned too. LOL! Aside from him flopping around on the stage which was absolutely funny, the background singers were singing the chorus along with Belushi as if nothing outrageous was happening up stage. That was the funniest part.

Granted I haven't seen the show in years, and I'm not defending there failing (I think) ratings, but it has been a GOP govt for five years. The war isn't popular in the celeb circles they pander to.

Regarding intellectual comedy, it correlates to the viewers. You are intelligent, so you just don't get stupid comedy. But SNL is not acting for the smart minority...

It wasn't a total ad lib as the music act was pre billed as "Joe Cocker and Stuff". Apparently "Stuff" was Belushi's act. It was still hilarious.

I bought the movie Animal House on DVD (the "Double Secret Probation" Anniversary Edition), and there is a behind-the-scenes "making of..." extra featurette, and the most funny part is the director introducing John Belushi to the viewer and saying that Belushi is the most talented person he's ever worked with and said Belushi could emote with just his eyebrows and goes on to demonstrate. He tells Belushi to "show me angry" and Belushi furls his eyebrows, "show me scared" and Belushi raises his eyebrows. FUNNY STUFF!

Since they have no ratings I guess the dumb majority believe it s**ks too.

I remember that Elvis Costello appearance, and I thought it was great! He started playing a song and after about 30 seconds he waved his hand and told his band "Stop, stop!" and then he immediately went into another song. Apparently he suddenly decided that he didn't like the first song and changed up. It was not a big deal at all - - pretty amusing, actually. I don't believe there were any ramificatications over it from NBC.

I don't remember the banning of Elvis Costello, but I remember when Andrew Dice Clay was banned from SNL, and still is.

Elvis Costello was baned from SNL for 12 years over that. This and others,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Night_Live#Banned_from_the_show

It was live television so that's why most bans are from SNL. Many are never seen on any network again.

If you want to laugh until you cry...rent the "Best of Eddie Murphy on SNL" tape....

Everything from "Little Richard Simmons" to "Velvet Jones" to "Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood." Plus his young angry black militant on "Weekend Update."

Sheer brilliance.

Oh, I think there WERE ramifications. It screwed up their whole schedule --- they sell seconds of advertizing, remember --- and it was years before Costello was allowed back.

Oh, this Bill Maher?

NOVEMBER 11--Comedian Bill Maher was slapped yesterday with a $9 million palimony suit by an ex-girlfriend who alleges that the HBO star subjected her to physical and verbal abuse, including "insulting, humiliating and degrading racial comments." In the below Los Angeles Superior Court complaint, Nancy Johnson, a centerfold model and former flight attendant (AND ADULT FILM STAR) also known as Coco Johnsen, alleges that Maher, 48, reneged on promises to pay her expenses and purchase a Beverly Hills home....(excerpt)

That wacky Bill, such a paragon of virtue...

Methinks the warranty on the silicon hath expired long ago.

The show ceased to be any good about 5 years ago.

Try about TWENTY-five years ago.
