I arrived in DC yesterday to attend the Support Our Troops Rally. I would guess approx. 200 people were there to support our troops. We arrived at the "Mission Rally" around 12:30. From there the group moved a few blocks to our designated area to 'counter' protest the anti-American, anti-troops protesters. We were seperated by waist high railings and a police line. Our 'area' was about a block long infront of the J. Edgar Hoover Bldg. I don't know where the protesters march orginated but they arrived in our area around 2pm. We left shortly after 5pm at which time the protesters were nearing an end. I would estimate their number to be around 20,000 to 30,000. However I read his morning there were 100,000. Their number is hard to estimate as we noticed some of the same people going through the march repeatedly.
To me, the protesters seemed to be a splintered group. Many depicted out and out hatred for the current Administraton. The remainder appeared to me to be divided between protesting the war, the military and freedom. Within 3 minutes of them arriving in our area I was spat upon. Many of them donned kerchiefs which eerily resembled terrorists. The angry protesters fluxuated between the 'peace' sign and the 'middle finger' salute. Our group remained cohesive in their support of our troops and the war we are waging against terrorism.
I came away with a feeling of a common bond that united complete strangers of all ages.
I am extremely happy with my decision to come to DC. I met many people here from all over the country who strongly support our troops and understand why we are fighting terrorism "over there" instead of here.I will stay for the rally tomorrow which I understand will be covered live by CSPAN beginning at 12pm .
Will be leaving shortly to go to the Rally to Honor Military Families. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!

YW! There are also some great pics of Friday night. There is one of me, imafreepernow, and the purple finger sign. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the comments ... especially the ones about "the Conservative Hot Chicks"! ;-)
Thanks for steppin' up for Marshall duty. The whole DC Chapter was outstanding this weekend! :-)

I apparently let my guard down and allowed BMW to capture me on digital several times.
I'm wearing the PW shirt.
I used to be cute. My wife thinks I still am.
Glad you could make it to the WRAMC Freep Friday.
It has now become my drug of choice for Fridays.
It's cheap, and the after-effects are a warm feeling, with a an amazing sense of accomplishment.

Well, if we're sharing pictures, you may be interested in the ones I have from the W&M rally.
Not as big, but just as important.
Specially when those young college students showed up with their signs.
Go to my webpage..linked from my profile page...and click on the Slide Show link at the bottom left.
Also good stuff from Iraq.
and lots of concrete and steel.

You are funny.
Ask Angelwood, tgsl Tacoma, BufordP, BillF and others uncluding Jim Robinson if I treat them any differently.
You are just as giving and were quickly adopted by the group!
I have time and have chosen these folks to help. I hope they will do the things they do, without as much trouble or with a small laugh.
No news on the insurance from last years hurricanes...I may return next week anyway! Neighbors say I have water in the house from the last storm.

Cool, that "Support Our Troops Weekend" sign is the one I had made here in Denver.

Thanks for sharing your photos with those of us who wanted to be there last weekend but couldn't, and a HUGE thank you to all who did go to DC to support our troops and their mission. You, and not Cindy Sheehan and her entourage of sniveling cowardly anti-American malcontents, spoke for me!

Cindy speaks for Osama.
As someone said at the rally this weekend (I forget who at the moment) Cindy Lies, Casey Cries.
Sad.
