And as Bill Bennett once said " No more Ten Commandments......they are now the Ten Suggestions" : )

We have one lawyer today who is the modern day equivalent
of Perry Mason. remember Phillip Beck of "dimples chad" fame? He has still never lost a case.

"Of course, these days, people just lie without compunction. They also get very proficient at keeping a sincere, straight face while lying."

Bill Clinton's true legacy is that he taught kids how to lie, and that there is nothing wrong with doing so.

I will be offline for at least 4 days starting today. This is initial pack, then attempting to drive all the way to Greensboro in 3 days, to give more time to house hunt. Not taking the computer since K needs it here until she moves with the household. I'll check in from my brother's house once I get to NC, and then I'll look for an internet cafe to use until I have a PC handy again. KP, I'll try to call you once I am in the eastern time zone.

Until then,
Doc

In a Reader's Digest article of many years ago, Bill Clinton was invited to answer yes or no to ten questions.

His score for the quiz? One pint five.

One question only was answered with a simple declaration, and another with an affirmation, and an inevitable qualifier.

I'd score his whole eight years with the same grade.

That's right.

Have you ever seen the 42 commandments of ancient Egypt?

It's remarkable how similar some are to our 10.

Ancient Egypt -- 42 Commandments

Biblical Times -- Ten Commandments

Today, Church of Bob -- One Commandment ... (Harm No One)

Who says complexity can't be reduced?

Sure glad I didn't have to execute the Ancient Egyption version of War and Peace in stone heiroglyphics.

Of course, the Nile has some rocky outcroppings ... I might have been able to get by with a cliff notes version.

ROTF.....that would take a few lifetimes!

Believe it or not, there are disadvantages to being an immortal.

As an example, letting a guy like pharaoh know about it would mean you'd be employed for several lifetimes, and chances are, the wages would suck.

So, rule number one for those of you who may happen to be, or become, immortal -- don't let the neighbors know.

Rule number two is -- practice your language skills.

"Witness: I cannot tell you what I saw. I can only tell you what I think I saw."

That would be novel, a witness who told the truth.

One of the big disadvantages of police and prosecutorial work is the guy who lies like an eye-witness. That is, he tells you what he thinks he saw, but it bears no relationship to what actually happened.

One point five.

Yes. It was presciently indicative. It was given before he won as President.

Proved to me the man was incapable of giving a straight answer.

Hmm. Good thing (for him) the question to him on the late night show was about underwear, and not about sexual preferences...

You have an incredible wit!

I spose one should not commit murder in a state that has abolished the death penalty either.
