Hillary Clinton Praises Belafonte's Anti-US Rant

2008 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton praised anti-American activist Harry Belafonte on Thursday after Belafonte charged that U.S. foreign policy had "wrecked the planet."

"There's a lot of people out here who are really pissed off," Belafonte told the Congressional Black Caucus, with Mrs. Clinton and Rep. Charlie Rangel standing nearby.

"Our foreign policy has made a wreck of this planet," Belafonte complained. "I'm always in Africa . . . And when I go to these places I see American policy written on the walls of oppression everywhere."

The former calypso singer's anti-U.S. rant won immediate praise from Hillary, who stepped up to the microphone and told the crowd: "What Harry said is so important."

In quotes aired nationally by radio host Rush Limbaugh, Clinton explained that in last year's presidential election, "we heard a lot . . . about moral values. And you know as well as I do that there's a big move on to get people to forget that it's not only private morality, but public morality that needs to be looked at and considered."

Hillary then charged that the Bush administration had made "a concerted effort to make it even harder for poor people and non-English-speaking people and elderly people to vote in this country."

Clinton was followed to the podium by Rep. Rangel, who wasted no time in disparaging President Bush as a racist.

"George Bush is our 'Bull' Connor," Rangel railed. "And if that doesn't get to you, nothing will be able to get to you, and it's time for us to be able to say that we're sick and tired and we're fired up and we're not going to take it anymore!"

Mrs. Clinton offered no objection to the president of the United States being compared to one of America's most notorious racists.

Yes, Garbo and Cagney, Bogart, Davis, Crawford, Flynn...and a whole host of other classic Hollywood stars who could act circles around this current crop of posers and cry babies.

Exactly.

And were smart enough to keep their political views under their hats.

THe GOP will do no such thing. They are silent about out and out marxists who serve in Congress as democrats. This is the great shame of the republican party.

you agree or not that the Bush administration/GOP needs to hold these clowns accountable

Yeah that is going to look real Presidential. Ever stop to consider that when a "President fights back" about 2/3s of the American public assume he is trying to hide something? I know this blows a lot of Freepers minds, but he is President of the UNITED STATES, not President of the Conservative Movement. Of course the responses the GOP DOES put out after Deanie or Hill or one of the other wackos goes nuts, you NEVER hear it. That's because the "news media" always seems to SPIKE those stories. But I suppose that is Bush and the GOPS fault too then huh? Maybe you should do what all thoughtful people do and TURN OFF the stupid Dinosaur Media. Waiting for them to be honest and objective is a waste of time. Listening to the Modern American "News" media is the equivalent of listening to Radio Berlin in 1943 to find out how WW2 is going.

What you are saying unfortunately is bull, a form of gop sheeple speak. You do not lower yourself by embarrassing your opponent after they say something totally irresponsible. You calmly hang it around their neck until they stop it or else lose votes, a good result in either case. When someone else calls you a racist murderer, you do not sit silent. When you do not respond, you allow the charge to gain currency and to be believed. Shutting off your tv set is not going to stop the rest of teh country hearing this.

You don't deny the charge that you are a racist murderer, you point out that the other side is being very irresponsible by making such an outlandish charge. The gop lacks the sense to do even that.

After time passes and you haven't confronted them, their wild charges gain such mainstream acceptance that you will be criticized for even trying to challenge them. Happens to the gop constantly. Here endeth the lesson.

Ever stop to consider that when a "President fights back" about 2/3s of the American public assume he is trying to hide something?

Ever stop to consider that when a President says nothing he only emboldens his critics even more?

He doesn't have to froth at the mouth and get red-faced angry. All he has to do is make statesman-like comments that racist remarks shouldn't be tolerated, regardless whether it comes from the Left or Right, and that he urges Senator Clinton and members of her party to denounce such remarks.

But I guess it's so much easier to remain quiet so the New York Times editorial board won't call you a right-winger.

The GOP would rather release dull, boring press announcements that uses a bunch of statistics to refute Dems' lies that nobody reads except FReepers.

If this was the American Revolution, the GOP would be the redcoats and the Democrats would be the Minutemen, shooting at Republicans behind trees and rocks while the Republicans keep marching in formation.

Exactly, and by making a simple observation about Hilary, you tag her with your comments just as she's tagged you. It will be hard for media to cover her positions without mentioning yours. Instead, the gop goes around with all kinds of crazy charges hanging from its neck. But the dems are not tagged with the chrges they deserve.

This should be politics 101 and in a party as large as the gop the president doesn't have to do this personally.

Bush doesn't want to be seen attacking Hilary. But the democrats attack every day. THEY DO IT BECAUSE THEY GET AWAY WITH IT. Tap that dog on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and it will stop the behavior.

I'm old enough to remember that Clark Gable, Jimmy Stuart, Glen Ford, and a hellava lot of others were in the Armed Forces in WW II. Also James Garner got TWO Purple Hearts in Korea. There is one guy, forgot his name, who played a bald-headed cop on NYPD Blue, was in Vietnam. I could go on, but I don't want to get boring.

They don't make 'em like they used to.

I agree! Hollywood has marginalized itself with an incredible assortment of barking moonbats and agenda pushers.

We are raising grandchildren, so our TV is on a cartoon channel when it is even on, unless the kids are in bed, but then there is rarely anything I want to watch except the occasional old movie (older sci-fi and Japanese monsters are favorites--Mothra, Godzilla, etc.--and are ok for the kids, too--too cheezy to be really frightening).

So many of the 'new' movies are just shallow remakes of older ideas anyway.

Hitlery's love affair with pink lacks the trailing "o", not to mention the word that usually follows. Her true favorite color is red, OF COURSE.

I hope all of Hitlery's embraces of the far-left moonbats are being documented and archived. Her statements will come in handy later on when she again tries to make it look like she's headed for the right.
