Okay, now that the worst of the storm is over, it's time to start counting heads. If you were in the path of the storm, please check in on this thread.
And yes, we'd LOVE to hear your experiences!!!
No, and I tried to call her and couldn't get through! I'm going to keep trying.
If her power if off, she's going to be ILL AS A SNAKE.
Ping me if you hear from ONYX...Have been worried about her.
Checking in from the Spring Branch area. We had some reasonably strong wind gusts, but almost no rain. Damage here seems to be minimal, although we did lose power for a few hours. That power loss was a major problem for me as I could not make my morning pot of Community New Orleans Blend coffee until it came back. I'm feeling much better now, and should be awake after I finish the next mug.
That's good news about Spring Branch. Any news about the Heights?
Glad to hear that things went OK MEG. I think they learned some interesting lessons with this evac that won't be seen again. One is to have additional fuel trucks along the route and another is to figure out a way to eliminate the concrete medians along the route for contra-flow. Bet that'll be taken care of within weeks.
I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR PRAYERS BECAUSE THEY WERE TRULY ANSWERED!!!</i>
I too want to thank everyone!!!
I was thinking the same thing!
I just lost power. I am on my Edge Card. I hope this will not be days without power. We will see. You probably won't hear from a lot of Freepers until they get power back.
All in good shape here, Lost power at 2:30, generator doing good job, no comercial power for 2 or 3 days probably, trees down, family is safe, got lots of food and water and plenty of Ammo.
I was in NW Houston. We had a little wind and rain, but nothing much more.
The only excitement I had was driving home on the tollway in my small car. A wind gust caught me off guard and moved me into the next line. I "white-knuckled" it the rest of the way home where.
For anyone checking in to see if there is power in SW Houston, I live near Bissonnet between Fondren & Gessner (near Braeburn Country Club). I DO HAVE ELECTRICITY! But, I understand there is a power line down at Gessner and Braeswood.
Currently, I am calling liquor stores to see if anyone is opening today. I would dearly love a Bloody Mary.
Hope everyone else is OK.
And, thanks for checking on us. I love this website!!!!
I have no specific news concerning the Heights, but with windows blown out downtown, one would expect some damage in that area.
Hopefully Sheila Jackson Lee's office was blown away. >sarcasm.
No catastrophe? The Democratic Party is saddened they've once less thing to blame on Bush....
Truth is, I'm disappointed. We really need some rain and we didn't even get that after all the dire predictions.
Any Freepers out there in the Houston area that needs help please do no hesitate to ask for help.
Please put me on your list.
Hope all is well in your area. I am in the SW and things are good here.
Don't be disappointed yet, they don't know what Rita is going to do. She might hang around a bit and circle around. Who knows, you may get some rain yet.
Thanks, kay, for posting that.
I haven't heard from humble.
His cell phone goes straight to voicemail.
If we don't hear something soon we will go by his place.
