Hurricane Rita Live Thread, Part VI
NHC - NOAA ^ | 23 September 2005 | NHC - NOAA

Posted on 09/23/2005 9:39:06 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

There *IS* something satisfying about watching Shep get the crap beat out of him by the wind and the rain.

" He said Dauphin Island was flooded and the water here at Mustang and North Padre is up to the dunes. Neither of us are near the storm so I'd say you are quite correct! :)"

I talked to construction workers in the quick-mart yesterday at lunch that had to leave Dauphin Island then because of flooding.

"Here is the answer for the one that can do it! (I can't)"

A high res of WHAT, exactly? The slogan? That's what Photoshop is for (might be able to help you there)

I wouldn't hold on to a steal pole if I were him...

Don't worry about him, I think Shep might be quite comfortable holding onto steel poles

Look at Greta trying to hold on to hers. They act like it is a $5000 hat.

They are desperate to hide their hair.

No hunker down at my house blowing like hell here big (huge) waves crashing into marina, tried to go out and have a look around but wind was to strong, rain hurt your face. Water not high no surge, strangely power still on, phone lines working and no trees down yet, think strong winds will be here in a hour or so, will report more if power stays on.

It's not THAT the wind is blowin'.

It's WHAT the wind is blowin'.

"This is better than JackAss on TV" OMG...I can't stop laughing..LOL!!!!!

This is ripe. What a fool. He said it was stupid for him to be in it earlier but yet he remains. Now he just said that they err on safety. Standing in 50+ mph winds is safe?

I left West Texas after college - that is when I found out you did not have to wear a head scarf all the time.
