[Mrs. Sheehan lost her son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, 24, in the same battle as Mrs. Ibbotson's son, and both women became part of American Gold Star Mothers, a nonprofit, apolitical group of families whose children have died fighting in wars. On Wednesday, the House passed a resolution, 416-0, honoring the goals and ideals of the American Gold Star Mothers, which began in 1928.]

Is it true that Mrs. Sheehan is an "AMERICAN GOLD STAR MOTHER" the apolitical group that began in 1928?

I vaguely remember that she was part of a different group that had a similar name, which was a recently started left wing group devoted to pacifism at all costs.

I saw the most disgusting paid advertisement today on Fox News.It showed mothers of our fallen soldiers who blamed president Bush and demanded he stop forcing soldiers to die for his lies. The group had to be that Douche-bag Cindy Sheehan's but it has almost the same name as the American Gold Star Mothers.I am real tired of hearing this loudmouth bitch betray this country while our soldiers are putting their lives on the line.If she wants to disrespect her son and spit on his memory, that's her business but she should pay a heavy price for doing it to other soldiers.

I just sent an e-mail to the "Washington Times" national news editor Ken Hanner "alerting" him to the error in this story. There is no contact on their website for the author of the article Amy Fagan.

This is what I sent:

The story "Families of Troops Counter Sheehan" by Amy Fagan contains an important factual error when it states: "Mrs. Sheehan lost her son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, 24, in the same battle as Mrs. Ibbotson's son, and both women became part of American Gold Star Mothers, a nonprofit, apolitical group of families whose children have died fighting in wars."

Mrs. Sheehan is not a member of "American Gold Star Mothers inc", the nonpartisan group, but is instead a member of the newly formed "American Gold Star Families for Peace", a left leaning politically active group dedicated to pacifism and ending the war in Iraq.

The web site for "American Gold Star Mothers inc" has this to say about Cindy Sheehan and her group:
“[We] object to ‘American Gold Star Families for Peace’ misusing the term ‘Gold Star’ in its political demonstrations.

“Our loved ones gave their lives to protect the freedom to protest, and we know all too well the pain that these families are now suffering. However, the Gold Star symbol – authorized by Congress to honor a family’s loss in service to our nation – must not be tarnished by partisan political demonstrations.”

Please issue a correction to this unfortunate error, which cannot help but perpetuate a significant false impression about the political motivations of Mrs. Sheehan.

I'm sure the "Washington Times" will get right on that correction, and then put safeguards in place to make sure errors like this don't happen in the future. :^)
