A Jet Blue aircraft just did a low altitude flyby of Long Beach airport after reporting some concern with their forward gear. The television helicopter caught an image of it - the gear is turned sideways and tilted.
Aircraft is heading out towards the ocean to drop fuel, will turn around, and attempt a 'soft field' landing, keeping the nose up as long as possible.

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - A US airliner with 146 passengers and crew on board made a dramatic but safe emergency landing in a hail of sparks at Los Angeles airport, even though its nose wheels were locked wildly out of alignment.
The JetBlue Airways Airbus had earlier circled low over Long Beach airport to allow officials to take stock of the damage to its landing gear, which was twisted 90 degrees out of kilter, before it attempts a possibly dangerous landing, television pictures showed.
Scores of emergency services and fire engines were on standby on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport for the emergency landing of the Airbus A-320 that took off from nearby Burbank airport at 3:17 pm (2217 GMT) bound for New York's John F. Kennedy airport.
The jetliner, which can carry up to 156 passengers, was diverted back to the Los Angeles area shortly after setting out on its 5,000 kilometer (3,000 mile) transcontinental journey, airline officials said.
"After take off the pilot reported a landing gear indication light and as a precaution decided to return," JetBlue spokesman Bryan Baldwin told AFP.
are they looting the plan yet ?
He only has to load it once... and if pictures are that big of a hindrance to him, he could block them rather than limit the rest of us.
I like a lot of pictures on these threads.
LOL LOL
Well this wasnt a torsion or scissor link, either sterring depressurization valve or steering centering. Either way a non event, nice job by pilot.
You Rock Doc :-)

Good point made, COEXERJ145;>)
they're too stuned to do that!
I wonder if it damaged the runway?
Me too. Don't we all????
Whatever..
Blackberrys rock. I got one a few months ago and can't figure out how I ever managed without it.
LOL! Just as I was about to click to something else, I see your comment. I love when that happens.
They are lucky they got their carryon bags with them...most of the time they hose you for 12 hours...
I will guarantee there are 145 folks who have a whole new perspective right about now.
I'm broadband; and I really appreciated the photos in the thread, too.
the shower was odd, though.
Amen CFG. That is my #1 complaint with broadcasters, all the view-obstructing graphics.
Anyway, that landing was amazing. Right down the centerline. I thought that the nose gear assembly would have snapped off due to the weight and stresses imparted on it. Aside from the need for investigation, it should be in the air in a week or two. Just my untrained opinion. Glad it made it down safely. Any landing ou can walk away from is a good landing.
