If you are in the path of this storm, please sign in here, so that the rest of us can keep track of our "displaced" friends and family.
And when you return, remember to sign in, as we will be looking for you!
I'll stay online as long as I feel it is safe to do so but once the storm gets bad, I'm unplugging the computer so it can't get fried.
Are you in danger of flooding?
Well, because of damage done to Shelby, he & all of the other medics in his battalion had to be transferred elsewhere for a few weeks in order to be able to continue their training.
He is now at Camp Bullis, near San Antonio.:(
It's crazy isn't it-mayhem everywhere I went today. Kinda like a controlled choas getting ready to explode. A huge part of me wants to stay, but the pressure to leave is building!
My niece is alone at A&M. My sister-in-law is trying to get her to go to her aunts house in Waco. I know my niece went to the grocery store and she said it was empty.
Stay safe!
Live in LaPorte A little to close to Galveston Bay. Headed to Lake Livingston. Pray for us folks. We're going to need it.Y'all stay safe.
I've got an aunt that lives in Katy, and my mom was visiting. I called them yesterday and said if they didn't come up, I was coming down and getting them. I've got two cousins + families in Galveston, and offered them a place to stay this week, but they didn't take me up on it (we're in Waco). My mom and aunt are up here, but they're saying we'll get 60 mph winds with gusts up to 80 or 100.
How do you think it will impact B/CS. I'm in California, but my niece is at A&M.
Roads flooded around A&M during big storms when I went there, so I'm a little worried about my niece being stuck there by herself. Hopefully she'll go to her aunt's in Waco.
I told him he's in the mandatory evac area as of 2 am. He still says he's staying.

Praying for your cousin.
I have in-law relatives in Highlands, I hope they get out.
Rikastrom (and puppy): Good Luck in Oklahoma.... Come back safe.
Thanks for your replies.. Been talking to the neighbors.. they're staying too.. There's strength in numbers... But where we're at flooding is not really a concern.. wind and rain.. and we'll just deal with it..
And I will be checking in.. I have road runner, but also a verizon card for my notebook so I can probably be connected more than others..
Turn off your hot water heater, the intake water to the hot water heater, the water to the house and the outside gas. If you know which they are, you might also want to throw all the breakers other than the few that you need to keep running.
We are here in AUSTIN.
"FOLKS!!! Don't stop in Central Texas, if you have a choice. We're expecting 50-70 MPH winds up here in Dallas!! Waco, and Palestine, and Austin, and College Station are going to get pounded by even higher winds and more rain!"
Yikes! Check out where that 1PM Saturday location for the center of the storm ...

... it sure doesnt look good for east-central Texas....
The latest forecast says DFW will get 40-60 MPH wind gusts, so you guys are looking better. You're on the west side of what will remain of the eye.
I doubt it. My parents' house, which is where I'm going to be staying, isn't prone to flooding. Last May we had a freak thunderstorm park itself over town and drop over a foot of rain in just a few hours. The street flooded but the house wasn't in any danger. In 1983 we took a direct hit by Hurricane Alicia and didn't flood then either.
My biggest concerns are wind damage and tornadoes.
Tomball, Texas here. We're staying, along with a group of relatives from the LaPorte area.
Yeah, it has gotten a little out of hand. Cannot find water, flashlights, batteries, gas cans bigger than 1 gallon, and most nonperishable food items. Most people living here today have probably never lived through more than a tropical storm let alone a Category 4 or 5 hurricane.
If you niece isn't loving on campus, going to Waco wouldn't be a bad idea. If she is in the dorms, she'll be okay. A&M is already prepared to take care of all on campus students and the dorms are mostly built of brick and/or concrete.
Thanks for checking in.
And please be sure to check BACK in when this is over.
Good to see you anyway.
