Some day when you have the opportunity, you can explain the reasoning for that decision to us.......LOL.

My sister-in-law grew up in Lake Charles.
Her folks still live there and have a big home with extra bedrooms.
And her sister lives there, with a big home with extra bedrooms.
They're good people and we've enjoyed visiting with them before, so it'll be nice to be with family. But Rita is a big storm, and even if Lake Charles is some 140 miles or so EAST of Houston, I figure they're still gonna get hit with some kind of bad weather because it's the strong side of the storm.

Going west, we don't know anybody.
But as long as you're totally out of the path of the weather, I figure even sleeping in the car in a Micky-D's parking lot (if all the motels are full) would be safer. Needless to say, Mom doesn't see it that way.

If OffMyMeds is in the direct path of the storm, does that mean the area east of that will get the harder hit?

OffMyMeds, be sure to have your meds nearby in case you need to get out of Dodge!

So does Arizona!

Well, at least you'll be with family and friends and you can all help each other out.

Good luck to you all; we'll be looking forward to having you back online when you can get on.

And, of course, I agree with Dane; we're gonna beat your brains out when you get back. :-)

If gets to cat 5 are you staying? What do you mean "if", it hit cat five around 3 this afternoon. Still two plus days out.

That Rita is real blowhard, she is. Latest forecast her to still be a hurricane when she passes Austin. I'm about 50 miles north of there, so I'll bring in the loose stuff off the back porch, and hope my neighbors' fences don't end up flying through my back windows.

If my Wife read this, she'd probably track ya'll down and kick your Ass. It brought tears to my eyes just thinking about it.

Why would she kick my ass? I'm the one who objected to some noob using Rita as an excuse to euthanize his dog.

I'd kick his ass!!

Hi humblegunner.

When tropical storm Allison dumped that two feet of rain on us, we did not get water in the house. It was close, though. At the end of the heaviest twenty four hours water was coming up the driveway. Sustained rates of 1/2" to 1" per hour rain would have flooded my first floor had it continued for another day. I have a town house, so more of my house is upstairs than down. Therefore I have lots of space to retreat to in the event of rising water. I am reasonably well provisioned with food, water, and ammo. I am somewhat less worried about flooding than I am high winds and flying debris.

Hi there neighbor! I am staying with my camper friends at Omega Farms RV Park on Old Montgomery Rd. Do you know where we are?

Praying for mercy and a turn to the West for Rita to hit unpopulated area and no loss of life.

You might ping this out if it hasn't been addressed already.

For those who have homes that have 2-1/2 baths a 30+ gallon new trash can filled with water makes that one usable too along with the other two with full bathtubs.

Note, some bathtubs have slow leaks. A good cover of plastic wrap over the drain could help.

"Ready?"

I don't know, but I hope so. There is a chance I will be in Dallas, but the traffic is horrible. Otherwise I have plenty of food and I think plenty of water.

Man I hate flying debris, it mars my finish.

I'm seeing on the news all the freeways plugged up.
