A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Even though it probably still feels like summer, fall is upon us - for tomorrow is the first day of Autumn. September 22nd marks the 2005 autumnal equinox, when night and day are of equal length.
Ready or not, the sun will be setting earlier and the days will become shorter. Sadly for some of us and happily for others, it's time to say goodbye to summer. Crisp mornings, autumn leaves, and frosty pumpkins are right around the corner. |
For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together. For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad. - Edwin Way Teale
And, for sports fans, it's time for...

Let's hope Rita just tips her bonnet and moves on.
Women are known for changing their minds, hopefully she's typical.
Stay safe!

Good morning and happy fall to you!
I have never been in Upper State New York (my son lived in Ballston Spa for awhile.....I think that is up there somewhere near Albany), but I can imagine that it is beautiful in the autumn, like the rest of New England.

Hi Nan. So glad you surgery went well and thanks K.E.T. for taking care of our very special Nan. There were lots of prayers going around behind the scenes yesterday thanks to a "little mouse" or should I say a little bear :o)

I'm praying that Rita takes a turn South and hits in the unpopulated area of southern Texas or Mexico.

leaves are beginning to cover my yard. Really? Already? We won't be getting our fall color here until around Thanksgiving. But it is nice that we are in one of the few areas of California that actually does get some autumn color. My mother says that when the leaves start to turn here it reminds her a bit of the little Masssachusetts town where she grew up.

Maybe our PC *guru-ettes* (Billie and Lori) will find out for sure and solve the prob for everyone. : ) *guru-ettes*....LOL!!! Well, don't be holding your breath for this guru-ette to come up with an answer. This color thing is a mystery to me. All I know is, my machine is calibrated correctly (at least, that is what the real computer *guru*, JK, tells me. LOL).

No rain in our part of Alabama since Katrina. Many trees are drying up and losing leaves earlier than normal. I was in Connecticut one September on a business trip. The trees were breathtakingly beautiful.
