I'm just praying it does not.
If I was in a town that is right on the coast I would get the hell out right now before panic sets in. Suppose to hit around Friday.
Houstoners face flooding, panic, looting, tornadoes, lack of supplies but I don't know if the winds from the hurricane would blow over their houses.
Well, I hope they know there's help here.
And I hope they're not too proud to ask for it when they need it.
Anyway, I was joking about that; I know we're all country club Republicans.
If we vacate we'll be up your way.... We'll make the call tomorrow or Thursday most likely.
Robt volunteers to unhook the first few: as long as they are only the odd springs. Even he won't touch the rest of the springs.
Will leave the last four springs for GOP_Kong_Mom's hubby (or other foolish beast) to unhook.
Is anybody besides me tired of hearing that?
I know they had it bad, but all things do NOT revolve around Katrina.
you took the words right out of my mouth,,,here i sit "allegedly" in the storms path and all they can talk about is how NO might get 3 inches worth of rain bless their hearts,,,,well crap if the ones still there had any sense they would be gone anyways (exception of relief workers of course)
Yep. And the "in the aftermath of Katrina, people are preparing"
OH BS, this is NOT New Orleans!
We are in a home and my daughter was here in 83...so they know about hurricanes. She said when the patio cover lifted up(heavy wood with shingles) it scared her to death..I think the sounds are scary.
We are making our decision Thursday also..We have a car full of pets to transport..We have a place to go to if we go.I need to get a quick getaway bag packed, a few valuables, important papers and I'm ready, if needed..
This is my first hurricane,too.
fyi...Cantore is anchoring Weather Channel desk right now..
From my perspective, Rita should become at least as powerful as Katrina. It will be over the Gulf a little bit longer and it will also get into the western Gulf which hasn't had a storm to stir up waters at all. The couple of storms that slammed into Mexico don't count because they were smaller and a long time ago.
Jose was a tropical storm for about one day.
I'm bad on names .. but the weather dude that was just on Hannity & Colmes says he thinks this storm will go to a Category 5
I know it was j/k,,,and it is soooo kind of you to offer.
Thanks Sis

Syntyr here... Posting from West Houston. Ready Locked and Loaded. Got the water, food, cash, car full of go juice, network backed up, weapons oiled up, couple of cans of ammo, radio, and wireless broadband card in my laptop.
Any fellow freepers coming by give the call sign :) DU'ers and looters shoot on sight!

I feel like I know you already. I co-run the RCIA program at St. Michael's. Wow! What a small world!!
