If I was in a town that is right on the coast I would get the hell out right now before panic sets in. Suppose to hit around Friday.

Houstoners face flooding, panic, looting, tornadoes, lack of supplies but I don't know if the winds from the hurricane would blow over their houses.

Well, I hope they know there's help here.

And I hope they're not too proud to ask for it when they need it.

Anyway, I was joking about that; I know we're all country club Republicans.

Robt volunteers to unhook the first few: as long as they are only the odd springs. Even he won't touch the rest of the springs.

Will leave the last four springs for GOP_Kong_Mom's hubby (or other foolish beast) to unhook.

Is anybody besides me tired of hearing that?

I know they had it bad, but all things do NOT revolve around Katrina.

We are in a home and my daughter was here in 83...so they know about hurricanes. She said when the patio cover lifted up(heavy wood with shingles) it scared her to death..I think the sounds are scary.

We are making our decision Thursday also..We have a car full of pets to transport..We have a place to go to if we go.I need to get a quick getaway bag packed, a few valuables, important papers and I'm ready, if needed..

This is my first hurricane,too.

It's just so ironic that hurricanes are beautiful from the satellite view.

From my perspective, Rita should become at least as powerful as Katrina. It will be over the Gulf a little bit longer and it will also get into the western Gulf which hasn't had a storm to stir up waters at all. The couple of storms that slammed into Mexico don't count because they were smaller and a long time ago.

Jose was a tropical storm for about one day.

Much as I hate to admit this, Bastardi has been right on the money for the last few storms.

I'm bad on names .. but the weather dude that was just on Hannity & Colmes says he thinks this storm will go to a Category 5

Nauti Nurse: Might want to have her post this as a separate thread tonight, or tomorrow a.m. after updates made, together with a request to post responses to this thread.

Shield: My suggestion only -- suggest you consult with NN and admin mods on this.

That would be St. Michael's! I went there in the early '80s when Fr. Michael Irwin was there. That's a huge Church now. My sister and her family go there, too.

I feel like I know you already. I co-run the RCIA program at St. Michael's. Wow! What a small world!!
