Well I think I've changed my mind again....... neighbor just stopped me - said they were heading out in the AM - said at closing a year ago they were told our homes would not withstand more than a Cat 3 if that....75 mph tops........... she said she didn't expect our neighborhood to be here when they got back.

My little bit of advice to all of you in the path. Get lots of heavy large garbage bags and put everything you can in them. It will protect from mold and mildew after, also may protect electronics. One cat 2 , I was boarded up and my house had little damage, but leaves and salt water got all through the house even in cabinets and closets. Before I could get everything clean and dry , mildew had taken over. All my shoes, purses, books, etc had to go. I lost my business and house later to a cat 4 , but saved many things because of plastic bags. Good luck all.

We are preparing to leave Louisiana Thursday morning perhaps. Waiting on updates. If the storm moves towards the TX/LA border we will be in the NE quadrant. We have relatives in Atlanta with air mattresses ready to go.

Prayers going out to everybody in Texas.

Still hoping that Rita heads for Kennedy county. Best case scenario since Kennedy county is sparsely populated and home of the huge King ranch.

Gawd almighty........GET OUT NOW!

I just talked to my wife. She's at work now at a hospital on the west side of Houston. She has to be there because the eastern and southeastern hospitals plan to evacuate patients to her hospital and she has a vital job. We might be separated during the storm if it hits Houston, I just dunno.

This is a pretty fluid situation. It ranges between no big deal to life-threatening.

I'll decide tomorrow night.

You've been around here long enough to know that I have to have the simplest financial story explained to me.

Heck, I still don't understand why the Dukes sold orange juice short in Trading Places and I've seen it at least 50 times. :-)

Now would be a good time for all Texas freepers to put their location in the tagline. I'm up by Dallas and have extra room.

Do more than one Freeper who you trust, who lives OUTSIDE of this area...have your phone number? Both home and cell?

A lot of ifs to go, but what would you recommend for Sneior Citizens in Sealy, TX? As is, the center looks to go just a degree west of Sealy.

You know, after watching those Katrina TV pictures, I was thinking we all ought to add air mattresses to our survival kits; I saw plenty of people riding on them in New Orleans!

we'll be taking roll tomorrow

I have a long work day tomorrow, but I will make roll call when I get in.

I have been pushing the boss to cancel work Friday. I may urge him to give up Thursday, too. (It's courier work and the roads are gonna be jammed)

I wish my company did that . . . but I'm not holding my breath. I'll bet $10 that we open on Friday.
