'We have to get angry, and organize around that," he told the audience of about 800 students at Brown University, deviating from his prepared text.
...And while Kerry's speech was part of an annual political lecture series at Brown, it had the air of a major political moment. The senator was surrounded by family members including his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, daughter Vanessa, and brother Cameron -- each a key member of his inner circle and each in a position to advise him on whether to make a 2008 run. They and the senator's aides scrutinized his performance from the front row somewhat like the judging panel on ''American Idol."
The senator received a thunderous response from the Brown students. During the question period he hinted at deep frustration over not having been able to reach enough people in 2004.
''The number of people out there in America who are not interested in getting [the] facts is longer than you think," he said at one point, bemoaning the ''amount of misinformation out there."
''You've got a whole lot of people who never tune in," he complained at another point, adding, ''More and more people are voting on issues that have no relevance to their daily life, or little relevance, or no facts."
Kerry implicitly blamed the public for tolerating ''the injustice of 11 million children and more than 30 million adults in desperate need of healthcare" and he repeatedly implored the students to ''make your issues the voting issues of this nation."
Making oblique reference to his own history of Vietnam War activism, Kerry implored the students to commit to political activism. Whether he again will join them on the campaign trail as a presidential candidate, he said, is a decision for a later time.

Treeeeza--NOT!
Randomly posting this to get the word out:
Get this, if you haven't already heard. Buchanan was just on Imus in the Morning. However, that's not what I want to talk about. Also on Imus this a.m., they just said that bloggers have busted that guy who appeared on Tim Russert's Sunday show last weekend, Alan Broussard (I think it's Alan, the Broussard is right), who did the whole rap about the dead grandma at the nursing home who was never rescued and that it was all Bush & FEMA's fault, the "someone's coming for you Monday, Tuesday, Wed, Thurs, and then she allegedly died on Friday, it is all a lie. Grandma died on that first Monday before the levees broke, Grandma wasn't even at the nursing home Broussard named, and everything Broussard said was all lies. Hahahahahaha. Wait till this gets out. Wait till Rush gets hold of this, or Hannity, or Brit Hume. This is going to be a delight. And Tim Russert was totally snookered, as was all the MSM who hung on this jerk's every word as he wove his sad tale, his lying sad tale. Oh, this is going to be good.
My Alma Mater. Clueless, as always.
I think that's her sister's claim to fame.
He only goes to the Senate to pick up his check, He hasnt been seen on the floor in weeks. It is my belief we need an independent investigation in to why this butt wipe keeps getting a check.
Globe must not have gotten the memo that Mama T has dropped the "Kerry" part of Teresa Heinz Kerry.
Is it just me or does she look a little annoyed?
What year are you? I'm from the Class of 1977.

''More and more people are voting on issues that have no relevance to their daily life, or little relevance, or no facts."
The Left seems to always blame the Right for the faults of liberals...to wit: it's been getting "warmer" since the end of the last Ice Age, but they want voters to suddenly vote on "global warming," as if we could suddenly change the heat output from the Sun.
Oh yeah, that's relevant to our daily lives...
< Rolls eyes >
The same year, only Sc.M. Went to Brown for grad school -- lasted a year, took my Masters and split. Brown was left wing to the nth degree back in the 70's.
I always think of Donald Southerland at the end of the remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" when I see that pick of Ms. Heinz-Kerry
''You've got a whole lot of people who never tune in,"
F'n Kerry should be more worried about those who do tune in....
LOL!
Campaigning on anger and hate is a losing proposition for whomever pursues that course. Keep it up, genious.
Great observation.
How does he think he got his votes? Those are the approximately 59 million people that voted for him.
