CLINTON: KATRINA A "POSITIVE" THING
Federal Review ^ | 9/18/05

LONDON--Former President Bill Clinton described the devastation from Hurricane Katrina as "a positive thing for our country" on Saturday (9/17/05).

Speaking to the BBC Radio 4's Today program, Clinton said that the disaster could encourage Americans to view government involvement in their lives more positively, something the Democrats wanted.

"I think [Katrina] is likely to make us far more sensitive to ...to the importance of effective, good government after repeated decades of often voting for the party that condemned government," Clinton said.

"You know, we all hate government until we need it. So as a Democrat I think that is a positive thing for our country."

Clinton also expressed hope that the disaster would bring the races closer together.

"I think people were very sensitive to the fact that it disproportionately affected Americans of color, principally African Americans, and low income Americans," Clinton said. "So I think it is likely to make us far more sensitive to things that divide us, to fight them."

President Bush has appointed Clinton, along with his own father, former President Bush, a special envoy for New Orleans, and the surrounding area.

***"You know, we all hate government until we need it***

This from a man who has been sucking on the Government Teat since the day he was born.

Uh, excuse me Slick, but the local officials who siphoned off dollars in the past that were designated for levee repairs were democrats? And the governor who failed to invite rescuers into the state is a democrat? And the mayor who refused to use all means of transportation (ie school busses) for evacuation is a democrat?

And you want me to feel good about democrats? Get real!

BTW, is the previous report about you raping Juanita true? You never did answer that question?

As a Democrat Clinton thinks that Katrina was a positive thing because it shows how much people need government? OMG

He is possibly the worst kind of malignant narcissistic personality on the planet.

And wasn't it just yesterday he said we over-reacted to terrorism and we need terrorism insurance? Keep talking Clinton. We couldn't make commericals this good.

Anything positive for the Clintons is bad for the country. Go away, BJ, your 15 is over!

Please don't take this personally but what we need on FR is more threads that have to do with what Bill Clinton thinks.

Lol! I hear ya, but it looks like Bill is positioning himself for some sort of public office. Head of UN? We need to take our Dramamine and pay attention.

Boy does this guy crave the spotlight.

GWB turned the spotlight on him by asking him to raise funds. Bush had to know this was going to happen. Clinton always tries to upstage everybody else in the room. I just wonder if this sort of PR is better than not having Clinton involved?

"Thinks" is probably the wrong word. Bill Clinton plots, as Ted Bundy, Ted Kuzynski or Jeffrey Dahmer would plot.

Hey Bill, here is what we think of what ex-presidents like you and Carter think, but especially you:

Bubba was blessed with the gift of gab. Unfortunately, in his case, a curse came along with it: He doesn't always know when to shut up.

The last thing Bubba and the Dems want is people being able to take care of themselves.

Exactly. We on the Right laud the kid who took a bus to Houston and brought 80 people with him. You notice the Left media didn't give this much attention?

There are times, like natural disasters, when we need the Federal Govt. to assume extra powers. But it is temporary and not designed to make people dependent.

The Brits in May 1940 gave the Minister of Labor the power to draft everyone in the country to help with the War - including women. Drastic, yes -- but driven by the dire emergency of the moment and ended when the war ended. Bubba would prefer that we're all directed by the Federal Govt as normal policy.

If the government did not spend its time providing retirement security, managing the healthcare system, and regulating the size of toilet flushes etc., perhaps they would have the time to do those things that are legitimately within its purview.

What we saw was that government failed at even those things "that only government can do". The best response seemed to come from the Democrat's mortal enemy, white, conservative Christians acting in a private capacity.

Slick was overheard mumblings "If only this would have happened on my watch, I would have shown the county what a great president I was."

"Huh? Andrew who?"

What?

Government INACTION resulted in deaths and near-deaths of a LOT of people. Churches and private individuals and aid organizations SAVED the day. Clinton, you are the epitomy of stupidity.

That's great Bill! One could only conclude that Sharia law and firing up the Caliphate would only be positive things as well, eh?
