Ted Koppell calls this a "breathtaking" speech, in it's committments.
Tim Russert goes poetic. Says we have to be careful this doesn't become a tale of two cities. he means the French Quarter is all lit up, but oh the stench in other areas, that's still underwater.
Brian Williams and tim Russert are pontificating pukes! Standing on a French Quarter street corner acting like the two wise men with their sleeves rolled up. GAG ME!!!

i've given, and given, and given. i'm sure i sound heartless and greedy, which i'm really not. i just don't necessarily trust the government to spend my money wisely. particularly the louisiana government. sorry if that sounds crass.
The IG is watching the money, NOT The Louisiana state government.

This has
nothing to do with race. I am flat sick and tired of those here and elsewhere that are trying to make this a race issue. There are whites, blacks, hispanics, etc. in this area. There were whites and blacks taking advantage of the looting situation in NO. Cops and criminals alike. And there were blacks and whites that did nothing and remained lawabiding citizens. They will all be given this money from the national government at all our expenses.
What this has to do with the national government overstepping its bounds and taking yet even more power upon itself than it was ever intended to and spending taxpayer dollars unconstitutionally.
I swear, I thought the hurricane in NO brought out just the worst in human nature there. It's clear it brought it out elsewhere as well.

Mort -- "adequate" speech. They are still cleaning up and recovering .. this wasn't meant to be a WOOHOO speech
It was meant to show the Gulf and the rest of the country that there is a light at the end of the tunnel

Don, if we took half the political advice I've seen you give over the years, we'd be the Reform Party.

"Why? B/c I dont worship GWB- His daddy was despised by people like you".
Wrong on that assumption.
I do not worship any of the people in the party. I do have party loyalty though. Even when I disagree with some of the planks in the platform.
Good try.

I have no objection to helping Africa, but not unless the aid has REAL oversite so that the corrupt leaders don't take/spend/waste it all.

Okay, that was a bit excitable, On ABC, they are interviewing evacuees hoping for negative comments, and all the black folks they are interviewing are coming out 100% for Bush. The reporter is so frustrated! Another home run for Dubya!Handouts are the easiest way to get support.

The ABC reporter is baiting the evacuees who just listened to the president. They say they believe what the President said, they are hopeful. The reporter says, "Why would you believe what you just heard?"

I must agree with your last statement. However, I don't believe their was racism in this storm response. I think if anyone failed them , it was the local and state government. But mostly, this was one terrible storm.

Woman on ABC saying "when they opened the floodgates".
She's blaming the mayor of her city for not spending the money on the levees.
