Test scores at Foust were the worst in the county and the students, particularly the boys, were falling far behind. So Gray took a controversial course for educators on brain development, then revamped the first- and second-grade curriculum. The biggest change: he divided the classes by gender.

True, but not neccessarily in the classroom. I don't think separate schools are neccessary, but at least some classes might benefit from such segregation. Especially at certain ages, if y'all know what I mean, and I thank you do.

It would be interesting to see what the differences were in the learning ability between the boys and girls. Are girls more visual in learning than boys..vice versa. Or are girls more audio than boys..vice versa. Kinetic for more girls than boys..vice versa. I would think this is more helpful.

Not necessarily at school. Elementary boys and girls in my wife's school are exposing themselves and feeling each other up - in grades 4, 5 and 6.

It is extremely difficult to control.

Separate schools make all kinds of sense.

Here in Jacksonville, Arkansas, our middle school (grades 6-8) was divided into two separate campuses--boys and girls. I don't know how the experiment is going to turn out but it seems to be a popular idea.

Ridiculous. Kids can figure out all they need to know about interacting with the opposite sex in the length of time it takes to drop trou.

Once that's over, it's time for school ~ in separate classrooms.

I'm for it. I especially agree with the observation that schools are girl friendly. I think this is one reason so many boys are diagnosed with ADD. Teachers have forgotten how boys and girls differ. I notice also that the books selected for reading assignments are ones that boys usually would never read on their own. Boys and girls are different and instead of denying that we should work with it.

Opposite sexes in a learning environment are only a distraction. They don't add anything at all.

But, those kids have other factors in their favor often too.
