Day Two of Roberts Q&A
On Wednesday, the members of the Senate Judiciary Cmte. finish their first round of questions, beginning with Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS). A second round for Chief Justice nominee John Roberts will follow, with each senator getting twenty minutes as opposed to the thirty minutes in the first round.

I am not fighting his battle, all I am doing is reminding people to support him now.
I hope so. Can't believe anyone would be punished for calling kennedy a murderous dirtbag.
Every Confederate rebel was a Democrat. Every single one. The treasonous tendencies within the Democratic Party are nothing new.
I always find it hilarious that the 'Rats make such a big deal about "voting rights", and demand that "every vote be counted", etc.
But then, they turn around and demand that virtually all decisions should be made by branches of government which aren't elected.
So throughout these hearings, the leftist 'Rat senators will insist that everyone who can breathe (or perhaps even not) be dragged to the polls, while simultaneously demanding that as many issues as possible should be taken away from the voters and decided by appointed judges.
Gotcha!!! Thanks everybody.
The concensus now being that Judge Roberts will be a shoo-in as the next chief justice, would it not behoove Sen. Frist to remove Snarlin' Arlen from the chairmanship? He will most certainly show his ass and his true colors once the next justice is appointed, and he cannot be trusted. Better to head off a crisis, now, than wait until Specter has an opportunity to torpedo a true conservative.
Just my two-cents.
Isn't that the reason to allow for taking personal property from people?
Yep.
Excuse me? My entire ancestry practically were what you call rebels and they were fighting for their country--and mine. Nothing treasonous about them. Their ancestors before them fought to begin this country. The party has changed.
Dems are tripolar.
You kidding? Remove Arlen preemptively and you remove a Republican vote.
Wait until he does a full Judas before spanking him.
They were fighting for the alleged "Confederate States of America."
That isn't my country.
I'm sorry I caussed consternation by spreading that rumor.
Any principle can be misused. So can personal liberty unless it's tied to personal responsibility. Broader public good is an important principle, but when it's misused, as you note, it can deprive people of their freedom. I wouldn't worry about Roberts use of the word given his record.
I agree that bothered me also. Yesterday when asked about considering foreign law in decisions I don't know if he was just being a lawyer with his answer or not but IMO he should have just said "NO it shouldn't be considered".
Good point!
