What a waste of oxygen! Why are they even bothering? Everyone knows that John Roberts is going to be confirmed by a comfortable margin.
It's the nomination to succeed O'Conner that will be the real battle. But if Bush plays his cards right, he can outsmart the Democrats again, just like he did with Roberts.
Maura Corrigan, an Associate Justice on the Michigan Supreme Court, would be the best possible choice.
I saw the link earlier in the thread, but it takes me to his page, then click on "video" link and it brings up a witness list for the 12th of September....was it removed?
He sure didn't marry a liberal, did he? :)
I just tried. You're right. I guess it's been removed. I'm sorry.
Qui facit per alium facit per se.
I found a portion of it with an interview on C-span....under Supreme Court archives.
heres a thread. Have you been able to follow any of the hearings?
So so. Thanks for the ping.
It has been interesting as Roberts has proved he is much brighter than those questioning him. I have high hopes for Judge Roberts. I think he is the real McCoy.
I like him, too. I thought his answer to Ted Kennedy yesterday was pretty good.
I don't think there will be any serious attempt to block his appointment. Granted, the hard left will continue to make a show for their constituents. Its the next appointment which will prove to be harder. Still, I would think our side could get the job done. W has promised conservative judges so I can not imagine him offering up a ' moderate ' ( read: liberal ) to make the Dems happy.
The thing is, the Democrats don't really know about Roberts, they don't know if he's a real, strong conservative judge or someone not so conservative. It's a headache for them. I think Judge Roberts will do just fine as a conservative Judge.
