What BOTH Clinton's didn't deny or lie about, they couldn't remember! Notice the Democrats didn't care that they lied, denied, and pretended to be unable to remember? It just proves how much decency and character are missing from the makeup of so many Democrats. That's why they don't like George W. Bush...he's a decent and honorable man. A comparison between him and most Democrats shows a man (Bush) vs. lots of nincompoops.
I know how you feel! I'm surprised to see that the more they bash the president, the more people rally around him. I think many people see the truth by factoring in their own experiences. I think more and more people are watching the media creating the story instead of just reporting it and are becoming disgusted.

That's what I'm seeing here, and loving every minute of it.
Maybe he should get Beggin' Nagin to speak up about the unused buses!
It takes a lot of courage and character to accept responsibility.
There was a lot of talk about values in the last election. This is a confirmation of values. It is a good example to our youth on accepting responsibility. God knows we've spent too much time with leaders ducking responsibility.

I agree with you on that....It all just opinion
But I will say that nothing ever was fixed by delegating blame on other (to save you own skin) nor by accepting blame beyond your scope (falling on the sword for other..gee how noble but did it did fix the real problems) both are the easy way out
A true leader must hang in and stay in the battle truly fix what went wrong no matter what people say..accepting all the blaming can be just a cop out a way of crying uncle... you have to stay in take heat and get to reality... be the prick if that what's called for to really fix it

That's some damn fine "strategery" there.
Both threads on this are running the same way. Bush is:
1. A real man for stepping up and taking blame for whatever went wrong federally.
2. A wily politician who doesn't believe any of this is his fault but sees taking the blame as a good PR move.
3. A weak-spined wimp for saying he takes the blame.
Do we need a vote?
And may I add . . . STUPID. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Anyone here have AOL? The lead news on the welcome page is "Bush Takes Responsibility" -- beneath a photo of Bush looking downward and biting his lip. This is how Bush's remarks will be portrayed in all the MSM. The finer points -- that it's for the federal problems only, etc. -- will be lost on the great majority of the public.
The sad fact is, most people get their news in sound bites, photos, and quick videos. If you give them a juicy, negative soundbite like this, it's all they'll remember. WHY -- please someone tell me, because I'm going nuts with this -- WHY are Republicans in leadership positions and Republican strategists so stupid? If only we had another Lee Atwater . . .

Agree. If Nagin and Blanco and other D's try more blame tossing, it's not going to look good from here.
This is one of two things.
Either Rove is playing a wounded dove routine, sucking the Libs into an investigation that will shred them beyond salvage, or else Bush cowboyed off on his own, forgetting that he never learned to talk with a suit on. He does just fine when he's wearing jeans, but when he tries to pretty his Texas twang up and sound like the Ivy Leaguer his history says he is but his attitude can't countenence, it comes across as a, well....a smirk.
Either way, he could have said it better. By admitting failures at all levels of government, he has opened every Guardsman, every FEMA employeee, every bulldozer and chopper driver, up to any vile charge the Liberals can and will concoct to keep this pot boiling. Blanket statements like that are, in my opinion, a mistake, right up until an investigation proves who did what, that what they did was wrong, and that they had the means to have known better.
Anyway, the boss is the boss, and he's on his own now, as far as I'm concerned. I have not and will not contribute the first nickle to New Orleans of Louisiana, my money goes to Mississippi until I see a mechanism in place to prevent Blanco, Nagin and Landrieu from pocketing it. Further, since he's handed the Libs a baseball bat to beat us all with, I'm done fighting the the lies the MSM can't seem to stop handing out.
There's weeds in my garden, the grass is too tall, another hurricane off the east coast, a train set my son needs built and I'm closing my book on Katrina.
This is nothing new. They always misquote the president. It has not worked for the libs in the past and will not work now. There is a backlash already starting and it will cost the libs plenty.
The last few times they went down this path we gained seats and I suspect we will gain a couple more in 2006.
When I heard about this today I started to wonder how long it would take for Blanco to jump on this and make a statement that FEMA was taking too long to get the dead out of NO. I think it was less than 2 hrs. I wanted to throw up. The dems. are just a putrid bunck.
