The Schedule (media advisory)

Tentative Schedule for the Hearing: Schedule is subject to change

Tuesday, Sept. 13

9:30 am Chairman Specter begins 30 minute round of questioning (Round 1)

1:00 pm Break for lunch

The Dem playbook

The Hill newspaper gives us a peek at the Democratic playbook for the Roberts hearings. Below are the attack assignments for the Democratic members of the Committee:

Kennedy -- civil rights

Leahy -- Bybee torture memo

Biden -- privacy, personal autonomyand the 9th Amendment

Kohl -- Property rights and civil liberties

Feinstein -- "judicial activism" and Roe vs. Wade

Feingold -- limits of executive powers

Schumer and Durbin have wisely refused to show their hand.

"Judge Scalia didn't have to recuse himself. Just as he has refused to recuse himself from the Cheney case because he went hunting with him he should have refused to recuse himself then."

You use as evidence that he didn't have to recuse himself a case in which he refused to recuse himself. Yet in the former case he did recuse himself.

Can't say your logic is very sound there.

"If your going to be a judge you shouldn't have to recuse yourself for previous held beliefs."

No one says you shouldn't have beliefs. The question is whether you will unfairly prejudge cases. Do you think a trial court judge who admitted that she would always throw out death verdicts in death penalty cases because of her personal beliefs should be put on the bench. Or would you think that such prejudgment would be impermissible?

Friend in the business says Mathews is gone. He called the Shapiro and the latest firings to the day. Hearing Friday is carnage day for the propagandists.

Kennedy Durbin Biden are all excommunicated effective now in absentia.

Caller on Levin just asked where the right to privacy was when they were grabbing for Roberts adoption records for his kids. Mark said where was it when they were going through Thomas' trash cans.

When a conservative judge is confirmed to take O'Connor's seat, there will be mass lib politicalcide.

Lest anyone forget, although O'Connor turned out to be a moderate/leftie she was nominated by Reagan. So if they want to play that one-for-one game, W should nominate another like Scalia. After all...

You would look weak and be stuttering too if you had NOW & NARAL breathing down your neck, because you owe your seat in the Senate to the screeching harpies and you're not delivering on their demands to defeat the eeeeee-vil Roberts because he's so much better than you are.

Schumer is SCARED........and I am HAPPY.

I missed most of the exchange but if that's what you gleaned from it, I'm delirious. I'm looking forward to hearing from Cornyn as he truly touched me yesterday.

Okay....here is what it all boiled down to with Schumer:

He basically is scared as hell that the USSC is going to stop siding with the liberals, which is the way THEY like to legislate.

Oh, silly me I thought he was just an a$$ hole; thank you for the clarification. :)
