The Dem playbook
The Hill newspaper gives us a peek at the Democratic playbook for the Roberts hearings. Below are the attack assignments for the Democratic members of the Committee:
Kennedy -- civil rights
Leahy -- Bybee torture memo
Biden -- privacy, personal autonomyand the 9th Amendment
Kohl -- Property rights and civil liberties
Feinstein -- "judicial activism" and Roe vs. Wade
Feingold -- limits of executive powers
Schumer and Durbin have wisely refused to show their hand.

Please do it. We need to be able to prove that they didn't LET him answer their questions and the stats on time would be very persuasive.
I like Luttig too.
ROTFLOL --- your idea regarding Souter/Stevens.
I agree with bjc, go 0 unless cash flow is an issue.
So, in order to seem 'bi-partisan' for the next nomination (where they will really go full tilt), a few might peel off and vote for JR. It will give them cover for the BIG fight coming up whenever W announces the next nominee.
Thanks, Now I will look for a second job, busting out of poverty! LOL
Off topic query..anyone knonw when W is goig to speak to the UN?
So 0 I owe no taxes, 1 I owe taes?
I've tried to game it..and anyway they come up losers..Look..I expect a 10-8 vote..the Dems saying they didn't get all the documents, and he didn't answer the questions..I don't think they want to filabuster in the Senate..it would detract from the Katrina points they're trying to make..OTOH..if they let him through..then they have no basis to filabuster the next nominee..who will have learned mucho from watching Roberts..Did you hear Graham yesterday, on FOX..he said..'"Only way they defeat Roberts is if they filabuster." I was surprise to hear him say that, then I realized he was in effect daring the Dems to do so..because they would then go nuclear..Dems really have no options..and worse for them..I'd suspect W will have a 3rd nominee..after O'Connor's replacementr is confirmed...Steven will figure the court is already changed.so why will he hang around for another 3 years..he's old, tired, and ill..
"Wouldn't it be funny if she let Jack get up and dance in the middle of one their bloviating nasty diatribes?"
Yes, adorable Jack could dance to "Shake your Booty" by Kasey and the Sunshine Band (complete with funny faces). I'd love it.
Or perhaps a little yawning which might be contagious and put the whole Senate committe to sleep!
This is not a hearing, this is a guantlet.
0 = more withholding now = pay less or receive refund on April 15 next year.
1 (or more) = less withholding now = higher net paycheck = chance of owing more next April 15.
I see him a little differently... He can dance, certainly, but watch him fling those stones! He's got some!
Thank You, it's been seven years since I filled one out and I forget. LOL
My pleasure and congratulations.
Good one! We've got A Freepers' Book of Chuck Schumer Limericks in the making.
Chuck Schumer is the worst sort of a male chauvinist pig
Here's a question that Chuckie would dodge--
"Can a woman belong to your lodge?"
Female Masons he'd thwart,
But he'd help gals abort
His thinking is such a hodge-podge.
Thanks
Wow ... I don't think I've ever cut the grass so fast before .. especially in 92 degree weather
I even reseeded part of it too
Now please excuse me while I go have a heat stroke and listen for the hearing to start ... *L*
Generally, true. However, it depends on outside income - including passbook savings accounts, etc. If you are a coupon clipper or a great poker player, you could still owe taxes with "0" deductions.
Thanks, I live in the Midwest, jobs have been a battle, this one is not a great one but it is a permanent one and a start. It will be what I make of it, after working temp jobs for seven years.
LOL, I am very small potatoes.
