No footage from 9/11

I just got done yelling at my father in law. He didn't really deserve it… he was telling me again how there is a conspiracy to keep a low consumption conventional gasoline engine from the public...'200 miles to the gallon' he said in his heavy Hungarian accent. It's a silly argument that we've had before and I don't usually get upset at him for it, but today I melted down. I apologized of course and everyone seemed to understand. They know I'm only upset because it's September 11th.

That day 4 years ago, I was home. I had interviewed on Friday September 7th for a position with a company on a higher floor of the north tower and had a call back for Wednesday the 12th. Everyone I interviewed with was killed along with a dozen or so people, some of whom I've known since I was 14 years old. One old friend in particular died leaving 2 children and a pregnant wife.

The weather that day was almost exactly like today, and my family and I stood there safe in my Westchester living room and watched the world descend into the surreal. I wanted to record the images, but I was too upset. I regret it now because it seems I might never be able to see them again. The media has decided that I'm too frail for such harsh reminders.

So I yelled at my father in law today but it wasn't him I was really upset at.

Here in New York, all the local News stations are showing the ceremony at ground zero. They are reading the names, and tolling a bell to coincide with the buildings coming down. I watched it long enough to hear the names of my closest friends who died that day, and to see the sister of one of them on TV. And I believe that it's important to have this kind of ceremony, but not nearly as important as remembering the events from that day.

The media has decided that the images from 9/11 are too graphic to show to Americans. They wouldn't want to offend our delicate sensibilities by showing images that remind us that there are a millions of people out there who hate us because of who we are not what we do. And that's what has me so upset today. They make this sill pretense, but in fact they don't want to show us the images because they know that it might build support for the policies current administration which they oppose with all their might.

It's my personal feeling that the news organizations should play the news feeds as they came in that day. I'm furious that the media has made a decision about who's side they are on and it isn't mine.

I don't really know what to do about it. It seems to me that the MSM behaves the way it wants and argues the points it wants regardless of the evidence which may contradict it. They've long since stopped trying to offer non-partisan news, but that's really beside the point in a case like this. They say that societies aren't destroyed but that they commit suicide and if that's so, then the media is doing all it can to help speed the suicide of the west.

It seems to me the footage from 9/11 would be a ratings winner, and as such at least Fox news should run it, but even they don't. It seems to me that all the letters and phone calls in the world would make the media change sides on an issue like this. But I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I do feel better about one small thing today. I was surfing around and saw that old favorite FR bumper sticker it said: "You are not alone" www.freerepublic.com. It was nice to remember that.

Fox News showed it this morning just like it happened that 9/11 morning. The first plane going into the building and then the next one and the reporters from Fox News calling in and explaining what was happening. It was just as I remembered it.

Yes, but the media can sue the feds so they can take pictures of the dead in New Orleans.

What a double-standard!

My bumper sticker still reads, "REMEMBER 9-11, GET THE BASTARDS." And another one reads, "LET'S ROLL!" both with the American flag waving.

O, and I spent my day with my father-in law, hauling haybales for his wagon rides to be, and told him I love him.

Bless you. I too am rather sickened by the fact that the media is ignoring this day for the most part. You see, you must excuse them, there is another crisis going on and they would prefer to dwell on it. This crisis has allowed them to wrongly degrade President Bush, so they prefer it to 911, since that might remind people that President Bush was magnificent that day and the days that followed.

Well done. My father in law is actually a Reagan republican, and a good man. We get on fabulously on most days in spite of his occasional little idiosyncrasy. It's just today I was upset.
All the best.

It had been rather unnerving the lack of attention that has been paid to the true events of the day. Your rant is well aimed.

I echo your sentiments. I became suspicious when I heard the networks were taking the footage off only two weeks after 9/11. Sadly my fears were realized, as the leftists in the media, fatboy Michael Moron and Democratic party tried to turn us all into little sheeple and believe Bush was the real enemy.

I'm shocked! I haven't seen one flippin' thing on TV today about 9/11. Not one! I read one little news blurb about how NY is remembering the day and that's it! My husband and I just went through the whole thread with the pictures and talked about how we haven't seen anything on tv. Screw tv, we have FR. We will never forget. Never. God bless you all.

What can I say that hasn't been said yet. The MSM, except for FOXNEWS, will never replay the events of that most terrible Day, as stated earlier it would boost the Presidents approval rating and they can't have that, they have have worked to long and hard to get it down from the high that it was right after 9/11. Also as stated earlier the MSM being the liberal mouth piece they are, want America in all it's glory, to fail miserably. Thier idea of the world is still the pre-9/11 slick willy era, that promotes the un idea of a one world government, with the USA out of the way, just like the terrorist, who want a world Islamic state. You see, for now those two ideals go hand in hand. But so far President Bush has managed to keep that from happening anytime soon. So what do they (the left) do attack him relentlessly, about every little thing starting with the 2000 election. While the terrorist just sit ,back attack when possible, knowing Bush will be blamed in the MSM and the world press. After a while it takes a toll which is what it's doing now. This is only one reason Al-quaeda has not attacked us again, getting thier azz kicked all over the world has something to do with it too, they know it will only help Bush. They attack our allies, knowing the people in those country's will blame Bush. But when the time is right they will hit us again, and it will be so massive(they hope) it will make us really forget about 9/11, which of course will never happen. We can never forget 9/11 it's the first battle of World War III, this World war will be the West(USA) Vs radical islam and the world leftist. IMO we need Dick Chenny as our next President not only to drive the left crazy, but I think he'll be one hell of a Commander-n-Chief.

Another idea brought up earlier is the MSM trying to provoke another civil war, don't laugh, it's coming, and it won't be black Vs white or rich Vs poor it will be Red Vs Blue, Conservatives Vs Liberals. Of course we know who will win this battle, I don't think I have to say it here..The only thing that will keep all of this from happening is US Frprs, Conservatives, Vets, You know who I'm talking about. These things will be accelerated if Hil is elected President, that will be the beginning.

source or sources of unedited video of news coverage

Nothing is unedited, but there are several films out there that can be purchased on DVD at Amazon.

In Memoriam, NYC, 9/11/01 with Rudi Giuliani narrating is one of the best. It shows the most film of those who elected to leap rather than burn to death in the WTC of anything I've seen.

9/11 Filmmakers Commemorative Edition is documentary filmed by French brothers doing a documentary about a young firefighter in NYC that suddenly and unexpectedly turned into a 9/11 documentary. It has the only known footage from inside the WTC after the attacks, and a brotherhood of firefighters reality story to boot.

DC 9/11: Time of Crisis is a Showtime movie for television starring Timothy Bottoms as President Bush covers the first 10 days. It has the view from the White House, interspersing real TV footage. Despite the caricature portrayals of the principal figures in this docudrama, this film and its eerily appropriate soundtrack remains compelling for occasional reviewing and remembering.

9/11: Day of Disaster is just footage made by a private individual, of firefighters working outside the WTC and searching the Pile afterwards. Mainly of interest to structural engineers and firefighters, I think.

7 Days in September (footage taken by amateur New Yorkers of people in NYC 9/11-18) gets annoying after a while as it shows too many liberal New Yorkers who don't get it.

See my post 55.

I reviewed some DVD's when I was deciding what to send the troops for 9/11.

And we just watched "The Flight that FOUGHT Back" on the Discovery Channel about Flight 93 on 9/11.

I also recommend it. It can be purchased on the Discovery Channel website.

You don't need a conspiracy when you have gross manipulation and a common agenda. Each party will act to take advantage of the opportunities. The only time you will see 'conspiracy' is when you can smell the stench of talking points.

MSM from their mission to remove President Bush from office.

Until the most recent days/hours I would've not put any stock into that theory. However, seeing and hearing the palpable disappointment in their voices over the numbers of dead recovered in Katrina's aftermath is truly alarming. They were giddy with the "10,000 dead" headlines. They, like the Dems, could smell GOP blood in the waters and began to frenzy.

I'm even more deeply concerned about the Media than I had been. And, who can ignore their attempts to show the bodies when they won't show the 9/11 footage! Anniversary coverage was dismal in the local fish wrap with the story (focused on Muslim's post-9/11 treatment!) falling below the fold on this 4th anniversary.
