LA Sen. Landrieu: Sunken buses are because administration doesn't believe in mass transit [huh?]
Fox News Sunday | September 11, 2005 | John Jorsett (me)

Posted on 09/11/2005 9:57:10 AM PDT by John Jorsett

I was just watching Fox News Sunday interview Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, and I couldn't believe what she was saying. Here's my transcript of part of it. Sorry if I've mangled any of the proper names; I'm not going to go to the trouble of looking them up:

Chris Wallace: "Was it incompetent and insulting for Mayor Ray nagin to order a mandatory evacuation, but then to leave buses -- and we have a picture of them -- hundreds of buses idle so that they could be flooded instead of using them to get people out?"

Senator Landrieu: "Well, Chris, I was there as you know through the whole ordeal with state and local officials, and was right there with Louisiana Democrats and Republicans, city council members, police chiefs, mayors, and governors. And could watch what Hayley Barbour was doing and Governor Reilly in Alabama. I am not going to level criticism at the local level. These people did ..."

Wallace: "But I'd like to answer if you could this one significant question ..."

Landrieu: "I will answer it. I'm not going to level criticism at local and state officials. Mayor Nagin and most mayors in this country have a hard time getting their people to work on a sunny day, less [sic] alone getting them out of the city in front of a hurricane. It's because this administration and administrations before them do not understand the difficulties that mayors, whether they're in Orlando, Miami, or New Orleans face. In other words, ..."

Wallace: "But but wait. Senator. Senator ..."

Landrieu: "... this administration does not believe in mass transit. They won't even get people to work on a sunny day less [sic] alone getting them out ..."

Wallace: "But Senator. Senator, there were hundreds of buses sitting in that parking lot ..."

Landrieu: "... less [sic] alone getting them out ... I'll tell you why ..."

Wallace: " ... can I just ask the question?"

Landrieu: "You can, but let me finish ...

Wallace" "Well ... well ... well there were hundreds of buses ... if I might ... here, we're looking at a picture ... there were hundreds of buses in parking lots. THe city ... It wasn't underwater before the evacuation."

Landrieu: "Those buses were underwater ..."

Walace: "They weren't underwater on Sunday ..."

Landrieu: "We had two catastrophes. We had a hurricane and then we had a levee break. When the levee broke, not only did New Orleans go underwater, but Saint Bernard went underwater, and Saint Tammany parish went underwater ..."

Wallace: "But they weren't underwater on Sunday ..."

Landrieu: "... and Plackman went underwater. And because the mayor evacuated the city, we had the best evacuation between Hayley Barbour and Kathleen Blanco of any evacuation I've sen. I'm 50 years old, I've never seen one any better."

Walace: "But there were 100,000 people left in the city."

Landrieu: "They did 100,000 people left in the city because this federal government won't support cities to evacuate people, whether it's from earthquakes, tornados, or hurricanes. That's the truth, and that will come out in the hearings."

That's exactly my take on it. They're doing the childish thing, running around making a bunch of noise while blaming other people hoping their guilt isn't caught. The governor's actions of putting her own authority above the well being of her state's citizens looks to be a worry over federal investigation after the feds are unable to find resources that should have put into place, ones that have been paid for with federal money.

If I remember, there was a question of vote fraud back then, and she wasn't declared winner until the votes were "recounted".

Ask, and ye shall receive:

They're Stealing the Election [LA]-Did voter fraud swing last year's [1996] closest Senate race?
Reader's Digest | August 1997 | Trevor Armbrister

I just found this FR thread in regard to the 1996 election of LA Democrat Mary Landrieu for the Senate. It's easy reading. The first 5 or 6 very short paragraphs are a MUST read! I didn't even need to read the rest. Now we know how she was elected!

LA Sen. Landrieu: Sunken buses are because administration doesn't believe in mass transit [huh?]

Amazing !!!

She can actually sit there in front of a camera that is broadcasting her statements (LIES) and with a straight face LIE and stick to that LIE while having the TRUTH shown to prove she is lying and she just continues to LIE.

I am beginning to think that all DeMARXocrats elevators do not go to their top floor.

What mental midgets voted this woman into public office?

And because the mayor evacuated the city, we had the best evacuation between Hayley Barbour and Kathleen Blanco of any evacuation I've seen.

Notice how they're now linking Blanco with Barbour in order to piggy-back off of Barbour's success? They're trying to diminish the failure of Blanco in Lousiana by citing Barbour in the same breath.

I bet you won't hear Blanco's name without "and Barbour" ever again.

The Landrieu family die-nasty along with Blanc-hole and Nagin are all radioactive. The senator's little brtother is Lt. Gov. The Vast Leftwing media darlings are providing these killers with every opportunity to lie their way into delusion, as this gang is fighting for their very lives.

Doesn't Louisiana have any tar & feathers left?

I heard this pathetic senator lying her head off (now there is an idea her constituents may want to consider) on CBS, nearly coached by their Rather-Lite old man. She dodged real answers while repeating lie after lie and clearly wanting to only have inquiries on Why Bush wanted to kill blacks.

Water World Plantation must never again be developed. Manslaughter folly is the only outcome whether or not Qaeda blows a levy (again?) with less than 10# of Semtex. These some 350 miles of levies are constructed of silt with some clay, which is all the soils of LA. Silt has virtually no cohesion meaning that silt dams/levies simply fall apart under pressure. This fact been known for 300 years - fully documented since 1950 when the Dems set out to buy votes by taming the Mighty Mississippi, except by media darlings and hyper-Keynesian politicians always buying votes and their empires with your money. This foolishness is going to waste > $100 billion before the Uber Big Dig makes progress.

N.O. has been known as a mass suicide pit for 300 years. It happened. There can not be safe Cat-5 proof barriers. This and this alone should be the prime topic of discussion as we bury the dead and jackboots complete their prima facia illegal raiding of high & dry lawful peoples' homes with the intent of confiscating arms.

"It was a foolish man who builds his house upon the sand. Mathew 7.26

It is an idiot who lives inside a mud pit below sea level with no real way out. Me.

Nagin, Blanco and Landrieu ALL OWE the people of NOLA an apology. They failed them. They let them down. They pacnicked and didn't have a clue how to handle their grave siuation. Nagin failed to use the buses...Blanco wouldn't give the order for the National Guard and Landrieu???? She juist looked scared and worse than the other two when it came to incompetent. All three should be dismissed and dismissed immediately. They all three are responsible to their constituents first and foremost and they failed the very people they promised the world to.

Landrieu is crazy, but figures the dems will screw up any investigative hearings and with the cooperation of the compliant press, such as Brian Williams of NBC, the country will blame republicans.

I really don't think that the country can survive like this. It's way beyond politics. IMO we are headed for major showdown. Winner take all.

The scary thing is that she only the 4th dumbest member of the U.S. Senate. I'd rate Pat Murray, Barbara Boxer and Mark Dayton (in that order) ahead of her in dumbness.

A box of rocks might actually be dumber than Landrieu. The other three, I'm not so sure about.

Landrieu: "I will answer it. I'm not going to level criticism at local and state officials. Mayor Nagin and most mayors in this country have a hard time getting their people to work on a sunny day,

And therein lies the truth ...

Incompetence in the urban cities because of the poor quality of work one gets for tax dollars

I have the Fox News Sunday show on TiVo and will re-watch it, but to paraphrase Landreau '...the mayor has a hard enough time getting city workers to work in the sunshine much less work during a storm...' I could hardly stand it!

I'll give $10,000 to the DNC when a Democrat can give a sane, sensible answer to this question.

Nobody, absolutely NOBODY in NOLA will answer that simple, but crucial question!
The mayor side stepped the same simple question by Tim Russet's "Meet the Press"!! He constantly side stepped the question to such an extent that Mohamed Ali wished he would have had that same talent as a boxer to do the side stepping in the ring!! It is just pathetic to hear these dims; the mayor, the governor and the senator from NOLA instead continuously blaming FEMA = the Bush administration who are NOT the first responders, but put the blame some where else for their total FAILURE and INCOMPETENCE!!!
