Honor the victims, find Osama

The issue: Four years since the terrorist attacks

Our view: Part of the 9/11 healing process is bringing bin Laden to justice.

Four years ago, our nation was changed forever on this day.

This year, for the first time since those horrific terrorist attacks, we feel as if the nation is finally starting to heal - events and activities are scheduled for this day without nearly the anxiety felt in 2002, 2003 and even 2004.

But even though it's important to heal - and to focus on a more recent human tragedy in the Gulf - we can't ever forget what happened on that crisp morning in New York, Washington, D.C., and in a Pennsylvania field, a man whose last words were "Let's Roll" died just after he heroically led a failed attempt to regain control of the doomed airplane.

Today, we cherish the memory of those who died and honor those who perished trying to save these most innocent victims of terror.

We can't forget what happened four years ago, and that's what makes the fact that the evil mastermind of the attacks remains at large such a travesty.

We've spent four years and in the neighborhood of $400 billion on the "war on terror," so far, yet the man who did this to us is still on the loose.

We owe it to the victims' families and to the nation to hunt down Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice.

It took us less time, after Pearl Harbor, to capture Hirohito and kill Hitler (force him to kill himself), then it's taken us to get Osama after 9-11.

Two points:

1) Your facts are incorrect.

2) Your grammar is crap. Do you understand the difference between the operative words of "then" and "than"?

Remember, your their, than your in good in lyke flynt. /sarcasm

"Congratulations to the Islamic nation, to our sheikh Osama abu Abdullah (Osama bin Laden) and to sheikh Ayman Zawahiri (bin Laden's deputy) for the destruction of America, which is at the forefront of evil. It is the start of its collapse."

The statement was referring to the hurricane which left some 10,000 [sic] dead.

In recent days, Islamists website connected between the storm and the "US war against Islam." According to them, Katrina was sent by God to torment the American empire.

If bin Elvis is killed, somebody else will simply take his place, and on and on, because terrorists are BAD! They LIKE to be terrorists, and they all want the top job - probably so they don't get picked to be the next martyr.

> If we get Bin Laden, it will not be a success, because the Useful Idiots just want to keep moving the goal.

Bingo. Liberal whiners are never going to be happy. The war could be over with democracy and full infrastructure restored to Iraq, OBL executed, and libs would bitch about some little old lady in Tikrit who didn't get enough healthcare.

That's why our President is right to follow his own convictions and prosecute this war as he sees fit instead of holding a moist finger up like BJ.

(I just threw up in my mouth a little thinking about BJ's moist finger.... ewwwwww)

If you think you have it bad, what must poor deceased Buddy be thinking here?

Poor Buddy "ran" in front of a car after he threatened to go public with sexual abuse allegations regarding the "First Rapist".

An untimely death, so so many others who got in the way of the Clintons.

Thank you, sir. But I think you're being too modest. :)

"IOW, our political will has been weakened, and this weakening has (possibly, I'm not on the ground fighting, so I really don't know) diminished our ability to truly do all that we can do in this fight."

You're right. If there's one way this war resembles Vietnam it's in the way the media and the left are systematically doing all they can to destroy our political capability to carry on the fight.

20 billion to Pakistani ISI and we could get him overnight, but would it be worth it to make that kind of deal with the devil?

Probably not, they would just give it to the Taliban or someone similar.

If bin Elvis is killed, somebody else will simply take his place,"""

You make a powerful argument against capturing and executing Osama. You're not a member of Al Quida, are you? They also don't want their leader captured and executed.. ----

By your logic, the cops shouldn't try to capture any gang leaders - - and the feds shouldn't have wasted time prosecuting Al Capone --- because "somebody else will always take his place."

Unlike you, I believe in making Osama pay for killing all those people. I believe in making criminals pay for their crimes -- especially somebody who created hundreds if not thousands of widows and orphans on 9-11.

Hmm, I been in the threads a bit and have seen Churchhill Bluff about. But my Spidey senses didn't tingle previously. i could check his postings I suppose.

We ain't rolled about in the mud in Freepland as I have with some trolls.

Always great fun though.

I can deal with libs straight up. But I go off when they pretend to be mods and conservatives. Why not be proud of what you are and defend it on merit??

Hmmm,...that was a rhetorical question,...obviously.

I believe in making criminals pa

No what you do is flail away looking for any excuse to attack the war on terror because in your heart you want to hide under your bed and just pretend 9-11 never happened. As has been seen demonstrated continually by your posts, you are an Isolationist. You think we can just hide out in Fortress Amerika and defend everything. That is nonsense. As Fredrick the Great said, he would defends everything defends nothing. Once AGAIN since you refuse to learn. HERE is why we are in Iraq

Counter Terrorism ops are much different then total war. Counter Terrorism ops are as much political as military. Strange that so many on the Political Left try to make every new war fit the WW2 template. This war doesn't fit. It's not a kill'em all and let God sort it out type of op. There is an old saying something like "the Generals always plan to refight the last war". That is why so many people are trying to apply a conventional military solution to an unconventional operation. Counter Insurgency is a strange bastard style of war. It is not total war but it is also more then the Leftist" Police matter". The other thing most old Lefties forget is the political aspect. Iraq was doable. We had the political consensus to do it. So since we needed a kill zone we could suck the terrorists into and we needed to get the American people to support the cost, there was no other choice BUT Iraq. Want to real blow the Leftists minds? Tell them this. Even if Al Gore won in 2000 and 9-11 happened, the USA would STILL be doing the same thing now in Iraq. Why? Because Iraq was doable militarily and politically. There was no other strategic choice for the USA but Iraq. Once Afghanistan was liberated there was NO where else the USA could go but Iraq. For all those who try to say "oh we should of gone into Pakistan/Saudi Arabia/North Korea/Iran etc etc etc people, there was NO grounds, nor political consensus, to attack any of those countries. Even if there HAD been a way to attack them, the USA could not leave an Iraq we were "containing" unfought on our flank. The minute we had committed militarily someplace else,Saddam would of made waves. The most immediate threat was Saddam so he had to bedealt with.

For those "Bush Lied/No WMDS" folks, Where did they go? In Dec 1998 Bill Clintonand EVERY Democrat Senator voted to support a Bombing campaign against Iraq.Their justification was Saddam's failure to comply with UN resolutions on WMDS.So we know he had WMDS THEN where did they go Lefties?

Here in a nutshell, is the military reason for Iraq. The War on Terrorism is different sort of war. In the war on Terrorism, we have a hidden foe, spread out across a geographically diverse area, with covert sources of supply. Since we cannot go everywhere they hide out, in fact often cannot even locate them until the engage us, we need to draw them out of hiding into a kill zone. Iraq is that kill zone. That is the true brilliance of the Iraq strategy. We draw the terrorists out of their world wide hiding places onto a battlefield they have to fight on for political reasons (The "Holy" soil of the Arabian peninsula) where they have to pit their weakest ability (Conventional Military combat power) against our greatest strength (ability to call down unbelievable amounts of firepower) where they will primarily have to fight other forces (the Iraqi Security forces) in a battlefield that is hostile to guerrilla warfare. (Iraqi-mostly open terrain as opposed to guerrilla friendly areas like the mountains of Afghanistan or the jungles of SE Asia). There are other reasons to do Iraq but that is the MILITARY reason we are in Iraq. We have taken, an maintain, the initiative from the Terrorists. They are playing OUR game on ground of OUR choosing. Problem is Counter Insurgency is SLOW and painful. Often a case of 3 steps forward, two steps back. I often worry that the American people have neither the patients, nor the intellect" to understand. It's so much easier to spew made for TV slogans like "No Blood for Oil" or "We support the Troops, bring them home" then to actually THINK. Problem is the Terrorists have NO desire to coexist with us. They see all this PC posturing by the Hysteric Left as a sign that we are weak. Since they want us dead, weakness encourages them. They think their "god" will bless them for killing Westerners. So we can covert to Islam, die or kill them. Iraq is about killing enough of them to make the rest realize we are serious. See in the Arab world the USA is considered a big wimp. We have run away so many times. Lebanon, the Kurds, the Iraqis in 1991, the Iranians, Somalia, Clinton all thru the 1990s etc etc etc. The Jihadists think we will run again. In fact they are counting on it. That way they can run around screaming"We beat the American just like the Russians, come join us in Jihad" and recruit the next round of "holy warriors". Iraq is also a show place where we show the world that there are a lines they cannot cross. On 9-11 the "Muhajadeen" crossed that line and we can, and will, destroy them for it.
