Three men decided to split the cost of a hotel room. The hotel manager gave them a price of $30. The men split the bill evenly, each paying $10, and retired to their room.
However, the manager realized that it was a Wednesday night, which meant the hotel had a special: rooms were only $25. He had overcharged them $5!
He promptly called the bellboy, gave him five one-dollar bills and told him to return it to the men. When the bellboy explained the situation to the men, they were so pleased at the honesty of the establishment that they promptly tipped the bellboy $2 of the $5 he had returned and each kept $1 for himself.
The Problem: Each of the three men ended up paying $9 (their original $10, minus $1 back) totalling $27, plus $2 for the bellboy makes $29. Where did the extra dollar go?
I feel like one of the OJ prosecutors would feel in a crowd of OJ supporters. Just as OJ's supporters resented people who wanted him executed, a lot of people on this thread - yourself included, it seems - resent me for wanting Osama executed. You guys seem as protective of Osama as the members of Al Quida are.

Do you think the War in Iraq and Afghanistan can go on at the same time we look for Osama Bin Laden?
If we unitlaterally end the war and pull our troops out, won't that make it MORE difficult to find OBL, not less difficult?
I would maintain having 150,000-200,000 US Military personnel in place in Afghanistan and Iraq puts us in a better position to find him.
If he has fled to Iran, having our military where they are us a good thing.
If he is in Pakistan...same thing.
If he is in Iraq...same thing.
If he is in Afghanistan...same thing.
Basically, if he is anywhere in the Mideast, we are in a better position with the troops where they are, doing what they are doing than doing anything else.
What do you think the US government/military should do differently that would improve the situation and make it MORE likely OBL would be found?
Interesting- I hadn't considered the possibility that his capture would be a measure of 'success' in the sense you've stated it, and in that sense, I agree. But his capture certainly would be 'a' success, a success I'm all to happy to encourage.

You answer my question first: WHy don't you want Osama to pay for killing so many people on 9-11? Are you opposed to the death penalty, like leftists? Do you think his childhood excuses his murderous ways, so he shouldn't be made to pay? Why exactly do you oppose me for wanting him captured and put to death?

Sure...WE would see it as a success...but it won't end the "War on Terrorism", will it? It would be pleasurable and enjoyable to see him frog marched out of a mud house in a pair of white BVD's that are sagging with brown stuff in the rear, but...the war will continue.

The faulty reasoning lies in the addition at the end. 3 x $9 does equal $27, but the $2 tip is included in that $27, so it makes no sense to add the $2 to $27 to make $29. They paid $25 for the hotel room, $2 for the tip ($27), and then got $1 back each to make the original $30.

I do agree that the man should be made to pay, and I have no problem with seeing people fry for heinous crimes. But my feeling is that these people WANT death. They are a death worshiping cult. I say, make his life long and uncomfortable. Remove his eyelids. Play loud music 24x7. Have hookers pay him daily visits (no...wait...) Feed him pork products. No mats or Korans. Make it impossible for him to pray. Make it impossible for him to kill himself. Pad the room. Put in a feeding tube and feed him liquified pork rinds. Make him want death more than anything he has ever wanted, and...deny him that.
Make him MORE insane than he is.
