They shoot dogs, don't they?

If a strawman that huge should topple, the weight would crush you. Be careful man!
Utter horse manure. It's just that unlike some soulless people, we can be concerned about more than one thing at the same time.
The last thing needed in the 90000 square miles of devastation are roving packs of rabies infested wild dogs/cats foraging on whatever, including undiscovered corpses.
Indeed, which is why the not-yet-rabies-infested, not-yet-wild dogs and cats need to be rescued -- and why they *should* have been taken out with the people instead of left behind to become a problem that needed subsequent clean-up.
You got to tiptoe around emotional dog/cat people for sure...
Sorry to say, a lot of those animals are worth more than the thugs and snipers that were loose and few of them were shot. Why?
Seriously, if I lived in that putrid flooded zone I'd be mighty grateful for a boat ride out, but if they told me to leave my dogs so the Sheriff can shoot them, I'd stay.
Some people probably think that's a stupid idea but they don't understand the bond between people and dogs. If they want people to evacuate, take the damn dogs too. You can get new furniture. But the thought of leaving your dogs to be shot would haunt you for the rest of your life. At least it would for me.
But hey even though the neighborhood is dry people can't be let in right?
My wife almost cried when she read about the guy who was forcibly "evac'd" because he went to a friends house to get his dog and bring it back to his. They didn't shoot that dog in front of the reporter but you can bet it is dead meat. And the poor bastard didn't even get back to his family. They took him off.
WAKE UP! Get a CLUE what is going on down there. Families are beign torn apart by jackbooted morons.
Sounds like a lot of politicians and judges.
"Well, I most certainly will not shoot the deputy"...ok, but did you shoot the sheriff???
I'm not shocked to hear both sides...that soldiers are saving pets and others are "humanely" shooting the strays. I live on the Gulf Coast, and from the comfort of our couch, with our dog curled up across our laps along with our child sleeping..(little ears don't need to know everything)... My husband & I discussed the "what ifs"... Our plan is to evacuate early with the dog, but if caught...well, we probably would not leave our dog alive stranded on a roof with no help coming for her... And if we didn't have a child to consider, we'd probably be foolish enough to stay with the dog...
And as for shooting the dogs...well I don't like it, but have lived in a rural area long enough to see what a pack of wild dogs can do when they are hungry & it isn't a good thing...
The sheriff is shooting the pets because he enjoys it
His rationalization is it is more 'humane'...
The nature of man is evil...and his mind tends to rationalize
that evil..
The decent acting folks of the National Guard are a God sent
as are their officers..
God Bless and keep them safe...and watch their backs..
imo
Over at the Times Picayune website, there are a lot of people who are posting messages about what animals need picking up, etc.
http://www.nola.com -- go to the Pet Rescue link.
Fast-moving info there, sort of unwieldy forum, but lots of on-the-ground info.
They're all trying desperately to rescue as many as they can, there is apparently an order that at the end of 3 days (by now that means the end of tomorrow I think) police/etc. are going to start shooting (though I see from this that they're already doing so).
Minton is mentioned in a number of the posts. They have a video of him shooting some animals.
One woman's dogs were killed right in front of her when she was reluctant to evacuate.
This site used to be dedicated to the Constitution and exposing the excesses. Now it is a bunch of RINO's being stampeded around by the press
We know, we're watching the same news you are.
Stop screeching at us. We're not the enemy, they're ~out there~
LOL. The Toxic Water strawman sure seems to be working.
Nothing like victimizing the victim. The NG seems to be the only ones showing some compassion. The LE types are suffering from the "omega man" complex.

They shot our dogs!" Miller, a 54-year-old housewife, said of her mixed pit bulls, Angel and Hooch. She had gone inside to collect clothes and personal papers when she heard it.
"Boom! Boom!" Miller said. "Hooch came in and had blood all over him."
I didn't say they were.
Again tell me - what did you think was going to happen to the pets after the people were forcibly evac'd?
