The Fox News Channel's Major Garrett made another appearance on the program this evening, following up on his blockbuster story yesterday. Among other things, Garrett got confirmation --on camera-- of the Louisian State department of Homeland Security's blocking of the delivery of relief supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. In addition, Garrett received confirmation from senior Salvation Army officials in Washington, D.C. that the Salvation Army's efforts at supplying the evacuees were also repeatedly blocked. Radioblogger will have the transcript up later, but the key takeaway was when I asked Garrett if characterizing Louisian's preparation for the storm as "abysmal" was accurate and he confirmed that indeed it was. Read the whole thing.
I also asked Garrett why no other network is on this story. He can't offer an answer for that, event hough he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.
"Verily, yet whatever she shall gain in silver, the Senator cannot abide the loss of 100,000 votes."
They need to get those poor blacks back to Louisiana ASAP.
Well, their musicians will just have to learn to play country, rock or Texas music...
I would have thought the musicians from there might have migrated more towards Nashville or Memphis...
My congressman, Joe Barton also voted against the bill...probably for the exact same reason.
It's better than San Antone stealing the Saints permanently, if'n they coulda.
I must have misunderstood your previous post...
I got the impression that you weren't happy about having them taking over part of the town of Austin...
sorry..
They lacked communications, a job filled by ham radio operators in the past. Art Bell and other hams said that they were disallowed to help, too.
Thanks for the ping!
See, I'm so committed, I'm giving up John Madden for a year.
I applauded Tancredo after reading his letter here yesterday.
"They lacked communications, a job filled by ham radio operators in the past. Art Bell and other hams said that they were disallowed to help, too."
Agreed. Ham and REACT operators could have made a real difference.
Arrogant public service "dis" our basic, battery powered two-way voice and packet technology, but our resources and training can be invaluable in a large scale emergency.
Why oh why didn't they let the NGO's and Hams help?!! Ham radio is a national resource, if they chose into tap us.
KO6WE
Remember those who shot at the helicopters on the roof of the hospital. One talk show host here in Florida suggested something bigger was going on like the mob stalling for time while they got valuables out of town.
Who're they gonna harvest to vote, backhoe operators? Mortuary carpetbaggers? Mudscrapers?
Tom Tancredo for President... the guy has guts!
I suggest we ALL write our representatives and hold their feet to the fire. I just read here (tonight) in FR about people in Denver getting money to start a business from a 9/11 fund. These were not people affected by 9/11, but a good example of what happens in a overly-large bureaucracy.
Someone needs to call his radio show tomorrow and ask him why he didn't finish ole Jessie off. He had him dead to rights and then let him escape.
Yeah, whatever happened to Reagan's 11th Commandment? (Thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican.)
I won't give him or Sissy-Crissy the time of day -- and now, Joe is off my radar, too. Dan had an interesting show yesterday, however.
Good Point!
Will fire off a letter to my "D" Rep.
I've sent him a few in the last few years...to his credit he usually answers, just not inthe way I would hope on most occasions ;)
Yes, but when did facts or the law stand in the way of the DemoRats blaming President Bush for anything and everything?
If President Bush had intervened at that time, they would be screaming even louder then they are now.
When the Libs politicized the war I thought it was shameful and unAmerican. For them to now politicize a natural disaster....it goes beyond shameful...they are EVIL. They are in such darkness they can't even recognize the truth!
How about, 'Blanco and Nagin are racists, they treated Black people like slaves'.
