At a minimum he should be disbarred.

This is the kind of thing that makes me think I will not help any politician ever get elected again... More people need to say the same...

50K fine and 2 years probation for espionage. Not bad Sandy......

No kidding. Jonathan Pollard is looking at changing lawyers.

If he is on probation, and of course he lied about what he did, when the details of the lies become publc knowledge, could not his probation be revoked?

Could he not then be tried for perjury?

I don't know that the door is completely closed yet. I think there will be more revelations about Able Danger, Oil for food, and other scams that are going to come back and bite them all. He couldn't fit the whole archive in his pants and they can't kill all of the witnesses.

Sandy Berger was given a $50,000 fine ...

Shouldn't take much more than a 'phone call on the part of Berger to raise that kind of money. Guaranteed it won't be his money ...

Cooperation was a plank of his deal, you are correct. Did he, explaining the prosecutors standing by the lenient recommendation? We'll see (including if this is the last of the issue, aggravating as that would be).

NO WAY! WHen he he sneak through?

I cannot believe this country. I hold a clearance and if I had done anything REMOTELY like him, they would have locked me up and thrown the key away. I am totally disgusted!

Maybe that delay in sentencing loosened up his tongue a bit more...

A Republican would have gotten the chair for the same offense.

Clinton will just divert the proceeds from one of his speeches next year as a payoff :)

I have been thinking that for a while, but I do not want to come off as a conspiracy theorist.

Did we ever get a definitive answer as to whether or not Sandy Burglar destroyed one-of-a kind documents? I don't mean the obfuscation that the documents were "copies" as opposed to originals, but rather whether or not the exact documents with all the margin notations, signoffs, marks, etc. remain in the custody of the National Archive. If Sandy Burglar was cc'ed on a memo and got his own physical piece of paper that he then wrote upon it "no, can't do that," then that piece of paper is no longer a copy but an original in its own right. I suspect that is what he destroyed and shame on the administration for letting him off.

Yes, this just WREAKS of Bonnie and Clyde...but the political class is protecting itself here. If any MORTAL citizen did what he did, we would not see him again, at least for 20 years or so...
