$50K/No Jail

Slap on the wrist.

We should not forget this happened under the Bush DoJ.

Two kinds of criminal justice. One for the "protected class" and the other for the "little people".

>>>>Sandy Berger was given a $50,000 fine ...

>>Shouldn't take much more than a 'phone call on the part of Berger to raise that kind of money. Guaranteed it won't be his money ...

Sounds like he ought to get a tax audit for the year in which he pays the fine, to make sure he paid any appropriate gift taxes.

Is tax evasion enough to trigger parole revocation?

~oh brother~

leaving this site again since rational and adult discussion is well nigh impossible.

That seems a tad thick, cc.
But, if you insist, let's rearrange the above:

Are you kidding? The one thing you can be absolutely sure of is that no one who takes the fall for someone powerful is going to land very hard.

Well, call me Pollyanna, but I think Sandy might not have gotten off as lightly as we think :)

Wonder what Liddy thinks of this?

Well, Sandy will wait it out hoping a Democrat gets elected. He probably cooperated just enough to allow investigators believe he was sincere in his info. His hope is to get a pardon in 2012 to wipe his record clean. He is acting the good soldier, keeping quiet, claiming ignorance, acting stupid. The guy is a criminal. Any other soldier or sailor steals TS and claims ignorance, they get Leavonworth and a rockpile. Somethings wrong. Bush should have slammed him. He has nothing to lose while in his second term.

Reminds of of the end of "Clear and Present Danger".

He pulled out the chip and had it cashed in.

The old Potomic two-step.

If Berger had been a conservative member of the GOP he would have had the book thrown at him. This sentence is a bloody joke!

We at least should've been able to see a story about Bergler being raped in prison.

No prison time? No stripping of his security clearance? This is scandalous, outrageous and intolerable sentencing!

I worked in the aerospace industry for 25 years, at times holding a Top Secret clearance. We would be written up for leaving so much as a secret cover on a desk; that is, a cover with nothing classified under it.It is inconceivable that any of us would have gotten the slap on the wrist that Sandy Burglar received for his outrageous theft (not mere mishandling) of classified material.

He lost security clearance for 3 years. He should have been denied it for life.

Looks like the left paid off someone on the right.

Wonder who in DC just bought a new house or fancy car?
